Any strange habits!

Do you have any "strange" habits or obsessions.

The only reason I ask is that I have to restrict myself with hand-cream. I just love rubbing it in my hands and once I start I cannot stop.

I let myself buy a tube or pot now and then but once it is finished (doesn't take too long), I don't let myself buy a new one until a few weeks have past.

I just love the feel of it!

Strange I know.

I agree entirely on tangled coathangers. Just the mere thought of them tangled up, as I type, makes me want to SCREAM!!!!
By the way, does anyone else find that accidentally banging ones head makes them really bad tempered for a minute or two afterwards? (... and no, I'm not refering to the general feeling of banging ones head against a brick wall in the name of motherhood!)

What about covering your hands with PVA glue and peeling it all off again! R

I too love the "copydex" peel on hands - I also love dipping my fingertips in just melted candle wax (not too hot) and peeling it off after it sets.

we really are a weird lot aren't we?!

Paula1 · 28/03/2002 16:34

Rhiannon, that really brings back memories of infant school, we used to paint our hands with it and then try to hide them from the teacher until story time when we'd peel off the glue!!

I have a couple of really bad habits. One is picking my finger nails off. I'd love nice long nails but I can't stop picking them. The other is squeezing my spots. Sorry that's gross I know, and really bad for my skin, but I can't help it!

wmf · 28/03/2002 23:30

stompy - i do that to! the one thing that gets me out of picking at my nails for any length of time is carrying one of those fancy 4-part nail-file/polisher things around, and constantly filing and polishing my nails even if i don't actually have the urge to pick. it used to drive my colleagues nuts!

soothepoo · 03/04/2002 11:58

Star - have you tried that with red lentils? Even better! Also, can't resist running the fins of raw Dover sole across the back of my hand. I can't decide if this is healthy or not!!

star - if you like the smell of new knickers, try ironing a piece of pure cotton fabric straight from the washing line. for ultimate 'kicks' use a bit of spray-starch on it first. ahhhhhh.

Bumblelion · 04/04/2002 21:05

I started this thread and it gave me some reassurance to know I am not the only one with a "strange" habit. Another one of mine is that I have to sniff clothes before I put them on, whether it is on myself or my children. I just love the smell of lovely, clean washed clothing.

When there was just me and dh in our family, I used to hang all our clothes out on the line in colour order and garment order, eg light blue t shirt, dark blue t shirt, black t shirt, purple t shirt, dark red t shirt and then start on trousers etc. I put it down to being an artist and wanting to emulate the colour palette but now I know I'm just a nutter...would still do it now but with four of us and SO much washing, I just haven't got the time or concentration.

I am the same as Azzie with light switches though and other similar little nothingy things. Dh is a bit anal about the ordering of his books according to size, subject and colour (and he's never quite happy with it!) and I laugh at him but have a feeling my little things are just as bad!

Love, love, love removing the fluff from the tumble dryer filter. So satisfying when it comes off all in one piece.
