How do you make playdough? I've always bought the stuff. Sorry no help re. blue fingers.

TooTicky · 10/09/2006 12:39

Do lots of washing up. you can come and do mine if you like

Ooh nice try TooTicky! My own kitchen needs attention and I'm messing about with play-dough

Easy to make belgo..

2 cups of plain flour
1 cup salt
4 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 cups water
2 cups oil (veg cooking oil)
Few drops of food colouring

In a large saucepan mix all the dry things together. Mix all the liquid stuff together and add to the pan. Mix it all up.

Cook gently over a low heat. Keep stirring to avoid lumps. It all sticks together and leaves the sides of the pan. This happens fairly quickly, so don't leave it! Allow to cool. I sprinkle with a little bit more flour to make it easy to handle. Can be kept in a box in the fridge and re-used if you like.

Avoid getting the colouring on you!

Also fun to watch dh/dp's face as they think it's something for dinner

Greensleeves · 10/09/2006 12:57

You can't, you'll just have to wait for it to wear off

belgo · 10/09/2006 12:57

thanks! My two year old will love that .

TinyGang · 10/09/2006 13:03

Thank you GS! I shall put a rumour on the style threads that blue fingers are the latest must have look.

You can speed it up with face scrub or a sugar and cream/oil mix, quite abrasive.
