A question for childminders or dog owners and both!

I've found a lovely childminder for my dd who will be 1. She's just starting out but she's been working at a nursery and has childcare qualifications. She'll only have my dd and one other child. Her house is lovely, she's lovely.

But she has 2 dogs. She has them gated into a conservatory/house extension and the rest of the house is asseible to her without having to go through the part the dogs will be in. Except the garden. The top part of her garden will be gated off as a play area for the children. To get the children to the end of the garden, she'll have to pass through the gate and conservatory/extension and then walk through the garden potentially with the dogs following to be able to get to the gated end of the garden.

I was fine about the dogs whilst I looked around the house. I love dogs and these are nice dogs but now, at home, I cannot help letting that motherhood anxiety creep in and I picture my dd toddling along that garden with 2 big dogs chasing after her!

What should I say/ask to put my irrational fears to rest. Presumably OFSTED consider the dog thing and would have asked her about getting to the garden without the dogs being a risk to the children???

One of the dogs is only a year old. Is the dog going to get jealous when the CM suddenly starts looking after young children in her home?

I have two dogs and I can honestly say if they have been/or are being brought up around children they will be (majority) absolutely fine with children.

The childminder will be responsible, she will have had them vaccinated, wormed, they will be well trained. They have a seperate area, not only in the daytime but at outside time aswell. She does sound responsible imo.

I hth, I dont know what else to say

Do you think for instance she will lock the dogs in their opart fo the garden before letting the kids out into theirs?

You have to walk through the dogs part of the garden to get to the end part, gated off for the children.

will she wash the dogs part down then?
its weird she hasnt done it the other way around

Yes, but I guess the dogs have free run of the conservatory/their garden all day long.

I'll ask her how she intends to get the children through the dog zone to the end of the garden.
