Ha ha! Hope that got you going! DO NOT MOVE UNTIL YOU HAVE READ ALL THE WAY DOWN OK?

If you live in the Northumbria area, and you are of a generous, kind, caring nature you can do me a favour and help raise money for the Red Cross too!

We're hosting this "Auction of Promises" at Styford Hall in Corbridge near Hexham on Sept 22nd. We've got promises such as an enclosure badge for 2 at Hexham Racecourse; a day visit to Blagdon estate with lunch in the pub and a visit to their working mine; fruit picking voucher; portrait of a child or pet; family ticket to Chesters Roman Fort; days salmon fishing with an expert - etc etc. I'm thinking birthday presents or early Christmas presents here! Most of our promises could not be bought outright!

The whole thing is being held in this lovely hall and there will be a buffet and a bar. The cost is £15pp then you bid for your favourite items. So not only do you get a brilliant night out, but you come back with bloody good presents for people too!

The reason I'm appealing to you lot is that we'd advertised this and sent out over 700 invites but only got 8 responses so far. To save it from being cancelled at a loss for us, we need more people to turn up. So tell your parents, friends, anyone you know that live in that area that fancy a night out with a difference. Or give me ideas on how to get more people going.

Now then, look into my eyes.........look into my eyes.........don't look around the eyes, look into the eyes...........you are going to buy 10 tickets to the auction and you will tell all your friends to do the same.........now one, two, three and you're back! What's that? 10 tickets you want! Oh ok then!

Fie for shame Rhuby and you working for charidee and all.
Have you thrown yourself on the mercy of the local Netmums website, or begged a favour of the local NCT branches? They might help, especially if they don't know you all that well as yet

WelshBoris · 05/09/2006 11:17

Very WB!

It's not really a family event as such Marina but I am going for Netmums yes, and the local tourist board. It's too early for newspapers and radio yet.

PTAs, posters in drs' surgeries, libraries and community centres, if not already done.
Send to the SU at Northumbria, Newcastle and Durham Universities, the Social Secretary or whatever at the big hospitals...sorry Rhuby, I expect you have done this already.
Not family event I know but apparently some parents out there do get out sometimes without their kids (I am not an expert here).

trinityrhino · 05/09/2006 12:14

rofl rhubarb, that's gonna get alot of people looking

Rhubarb · 05/09/2006 12:23

Nobody seems interested sadly though Rhino! They don't care if I'm sprogging again or not!

I've just done posters for the local tourist boards and contacted Netmums. I'll pop a few into Golf Clubs too - they have a bit of cash behind them!

I'm going to go meself, should be good! I'm bidding for a day's salmon fishing for dh, it's his birthday at the end of this month.
