Do you think £55 a month is too expensive for phone and internet?

..... because that's how much we pay at the moment and to me it seems an awful lot.

I think Broadband is about £25 a month and £30 a month for the phone which includes line rental, one of those option things where you get free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines and the phonecalls.

I only make about 2 or 3 calls a week on it, maybe a couple of mobile but not a not, when we get our bill through theres about £20 a quarter max on bills.

Does this seem reasonable or should I be changing and to what?

Got Sky on top of this at another £21 a month, DP wanted to add Sky Sports and they wanted £37 a month last year we had Sky sports and the same channels and it was £28, robbing gets.

I think htats high - think we pay about £30 a month (ish) for broad band and phone
www.toucansurf.com

also get free calls etc. if you decide to switch, tell me first and I'll give you my email addy - if you give it to them, we both get money off our bills

Shameless hustle over with, I do recommend it

schneebly · 05/09/2006 10:49

I might e-mail you about this MamaG as DH wants to switch from the crappy provider we currently have!

merrily · 05/09/2006 10:54

mmm yes that is a lot. We currently pay around £45-50 per month for phone, broadband and cable TV with NTL. Without the cable TV it would be £30-35. Not recommending NTL though, their customer service is rubbish and we are going to switch when we move house (hopefully soon!) You could try looking at one of those price comparison websites like Uswitch, I think they cover broadband providers.

Got a advert in today for telewest phone, broadband and digital tv for £30 a month. Might investigate into it see if they do it in my area.

We usually pay (on average) about £55-60 a month for Broadband, TV and Phone with NTL

Mum2FunkyDude · 06/09/2006 16:01

We pay about £40 for both, broadband at £22.50 (not the cheapest out there) and TalkTalk. TalkTalk offers free broadband if they have equipment in your area.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 06/09/2006 16:03

oh I meant to add our 'service' charges are actually about £43 (+£4 as we don't pay by DD) but we spend quite a lot on overseas calls (which obviously aren't included in the Unlimited packages

Hayls · 06/09/2006 16:03

We've got the Telewest deal sweetkitty mentioned- £30 for TV, broadband and phone and it is great but it depends on whether or not it is in your area.

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2006 16:10

Er, we pay £25ish for phone per month, £27 for wireless unlimited internet access BT broadband and we pay £46 a month for Sky (we have Sky + and an extra box in the playroom.

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2006 16:11

Just out of interest, those of you who have quite cheap internet access, do you never have any problem logging on or getting connected? SIL and another friend have different providers (one is Tesco, don't kow the other) and they always have problems getting on.

hana · 06/09/2006 16:15

we papy £15 for broadband, haven't ever had probs with telewest
nothing for tv as have freeview ( highly recommend that!)

and phone is average £25 each month, keep meaning to see if I can get this cheaper though

incywincy · 06/09/2006 16:15

hi,
we have tiscali broadband see here option 4. £19.99 per month including broadband and all calls.

incywincy · 06/09/2006 16:18

oh and option 1 on bt for line rental £11, so a total of 30.99 per month

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 06/09/2006 16:23

Our aol is £24, BT is about £12 and we make almost all calls on either 1899 or 18185 - variable amounts but average probably £15 (includes lots of calls to mobiles on 18185) - total £51 a month but with as few calls as you it would probably be only about £40.

1899 (for calls to landlines - use in conjunction with saynoto0870 as much as poss so you get a free call to a landline number instead of a 4p-8p a minute call to an 0870 number - it makes hanging on in a queue much less painful)

18185 for calls to mobiles and overseas.

If you have to ring an 0870 try to do it at the weekend.

Glassofwine · 06/09/2006 16:27

Ours is about the same ie. £55 - have also been trying to find out how to make it cheaper. Was wondering about forgetting the landline altogether for phone calls and just using mobile as I never use all my minutes, but not sure if it would get annoying.
