Weve just got a couple of those too, one male and one female and not agressive yet. Maybe they keep each other occupied Just got six baby cardinals but now there are only three though - discovered the gourami is munching on them - nice!

We had a naughty one of these, they are called ruby sharks I think. He was called Feargal. Depends what other fish you have - we finally had only tetras (neon, cardinal, glowlight etc) and he was happy then. Was more vicious to bigger fish IME

It's horrible when there's unrest in the tank, isn't it?

I've got a red tailed black shark, a bit different but still agressive! It's worse with other bigger fish, so I got 10 neons, and since then, it's stopped stressing the others. One tip I heard is to move their 'lair' every so often as their agression is usually based on the fact they're so territorial. But, having said that, my tank's 48"x 15"' x 18" and it seems to see the whole thing as his own, whatever I do!

I used to keep them but only with tiger barbs and tetras - and still lost the occasional tetra. I always asked how the different types of fish might get along in my 'community' tank before purchasing.

All I can think of is to have some rocks, caves and plenty of weed in the tank to give your other fish somewhere to hide or at least get a bit of a rest.

we have tiger barbs (which are meant to be naughty but are ok in groups on 6 or so) which have enver been a problem, it leaves the giant catfish alone, but chases the danios something mad.
I didnt actually buy the shark, my mum did but left the bag of fish round here, so i kinda nabbed it. Its lovely, black with red fins and tail, and will grow quite large.
will try andding an extra rock to see if the other fish can hide if he gets naughty again.
none have been lost so far.
