some things here

Skribble · 30/08/2006 17:27

We don't get them very low but when the wind changes we get them a lot then it changes again and we hear nothing for days.

Blondilocks · 30/08/2006 17:45

I'll ask OH & get back to you ... may take a while as he's out at the moment but bear with me.

TheLadyVanishes · 30/08/2006 18:38

look on the website for the airport, i did that and it showed flight paths, was going to complain as they are coming over my house very very low (not nice) but then everything happened with the terror scares so I didn't bother

LizP · 30/08/2006 19:03

Is this Stansted then ? When we moved near 8 years ago I just called their PR office and asked them to send me the info and they sent a nice clear map. Sure your local / parish council will also have the details.

Blondilocks · 30/08/2006 20:52

OH doesn't know of any websites showing where they are.

If you live near an airport then you're bound to get some noise. I used to live under Concorde's flightpath & just got used to it after a while. (Also lived next to a railway line, which was more noisy - not out of choice as this was in uni halls).

mmmmchocolate · 30/08/2006 21:40

we not near stansted, its about a 40 min drive. dd likes to watch planes and i now taken an intrest and wonder wher they were going or if it is the landing q.

not found anything yet!

Oh I've noticed this. We are about 15 miles from Edinburgh and have planes pass overhead where there weren't any before the "terror scare". My parents house has always been on the flight path for Glasgow airport but in the last few weeks they have been coming in a slightly different direction and much lower.

I had said this to dh but neither of us could figure out why the change would happen.

mmmmchocolate · 30/08/2006 22:10

thats same here, they are lower and some go off in different directions. would love to find a flight path website but still searching with no luck!

To ToIfbySea, do you live on the west side of edinburgh? Edinburgh has one major runway for large passenger traffic. The flight paths haven't changed as the planes are still coming in over my house in West lothian. I have noticed one or two planes using a different approach whilst at work in Edinburgh but I cannot see any reason why it has to do with any terror issue. It is more likely to do with the local weather situation.

TwoIfBySea · 30/08/2006 23:02

LandRover, I stay in West Lothian too! We used to see planes in the distance but now they are flying directly overhead and to the front of our house (coming from the West) and are lower than we used to see. I noticed mainly because of the noise and we can now watch them from our bedroom window! DH used to work in Edinburgh airport although not for BAA or an airline.

We had wondered if it was to do with recent events because it happened straight afterward and I know what a panic the authorities like to get into. If it is the weather then dts are going to be disappointed when the planes stop flying near our house!
