If anyone has any songs off this list and can email them to me I'd be very grateful. (I'm told this is possible).
I'm taking an mner's idea and am going to attempt to make a CD for a friend's 40th birthday, but to download them all at 79p each would be more than I can afford, so if anyone can help, I'd be truly grateful.

Here's the list (in case you missed the other thread here).

what a fantastic idea for a present!
My brother does all my music for me as i am pretty useless and just end up paying for it and it never actually getting to my MP3.

he uses Bear share. his version is the pro one so he pays but i am told there is a freebie version where you can share songs like this and you don't have to pay.

Aero · 28/08/2006 23:46

I don't mind paying so much, just that I can't really afford £30+ for one CD!

Is Bear share reliable/trustworthy? I'm a bit worried about using sites I don't know? I'd happily pay a membership fee (if it's not too much and they have the songs I'm after) as dh could use it for his mp3 player as well.

Any of the free sites are dodgy AND illegal.

I need to check our collection but I think there might be a few in there. Would probably be easier to burn to a cd than email though.

I'll have a look and get back to you.

Aero · 29/08/2006 00:02

Thanks StG. I don't even know how to burn to a CD, or how to get folk to send them to me or what to do with them if they do. Have a feeling I'm going to learn something new this week. Feel free to talk me (slowly and clearly ) through how to put this together with a little help from my friends hopefully!

If you want, I'll do it for you - I need a project to keep me from killing the kids in the last week of holidays

fattiemumma · 29/08/2006 00:04

as i say i am really rubbish with this sort of thing.

I think he explained it that the free section is paid for by the paying members and advertisments. you don't actually buy the single you just copy it from someone else and so your not allowed to sell it???

as i say i think i may well be wrong.
i just tell him what i want every few weeks and he does it for me.

SaintGeorgeMarple · 29/08/2006 00:07

It's called P2P (or peer to peer) FM.

Basically you agree to share files on your computer in return for sharing files on other peoples.

Breaches every copyright law going and can get you slammed with a big fine if you do it too much and get caught.

Aero · 29/08/2006 00:11

StG - I love you!! Shall I CAT you? Only slight issue is that the party is on Saturday. Is it at all possible? I'm really not up for file-sharing. Always cautious, me!!!

antlxstew at yahoo dot co dot uk

How many tracks (if any) have you managed to get so far?

Aero · 29/08/2006 00:18

Errrrrrrrrrrrm - none so far as I've just been on here checking out what I'm up against! Think lots are available on the usual downloading sites though at 79p each. It was just the cost of downloading all of them that was standing in my way.

OP posts:
SaintGeorgeMarple · 29/08/2006 00:19

First thing then - have you got any of them yourself on cd or album?

Aero · 29/08/2006 00:40

I have perhaps three - though not definite and also not sure how to burn CD to CD. We only have one place for CD's on pc - is it complicated? (Aero now regrets mucking around in computer studies at school and taking the p* out of the teacher - so long ago though that it probably wouldn't have helped)!

SaintGeorgeMarple · 29/08/2006 00:46

You might not have a burner.

Let me know when you are sure which tracks you have. If need be you can copy them from cd to your pc, compress them and email them to me.

(And yes I will talk you through it )

theunknownrebelbang · 29/08/2006 00:48

What a fab idea for a pressie, and the first two tracks coincide with what would be on my list too.

Aero · 29/08/2006 00:58

Will check for sure in the morning but the ones I think I have are
Natasha Bedingfield:These Words,
Elvis Presley:The Wonder of You, and
UB40:Red, Red Wine.

Best crash now though or I won't be able to rise in the morninng!! lol

Thanks so much all.

Night night. x
