Just thought I'd let people know what happened to me today, partly to let off steam and partly to warn you. I was on my own with my baby in Boots Manchester city centre baby change room. A woman came in on her own without a baby and started leaning over the baby and asking me about what she eats. I moved towards my baby and she moved towards my bag. She told me to carry on changing her and continued to circle towards the bag whilst repeating the same questions. Once I really knew what she was up to, I picked my baby up, stood in front of my bag and said 'Well goodbye' loudly to her. She then left.
I gave a very brief description of her to the manager, but felt annoyed that he didn't want to know anything more. After all if she'd tried it once, she could well try again.
Anyway, I'd suggest being careful in situations like that, I never expected it to happen and was lucky not to get caught out.

I went to soft play area recently with my dd,
I packed her lunch (didn't want her eating the
crap food they sell there)

Food was packed in a Fifi lunchbox & inside had her fifi drinking bottle. When we were about to leave realised some scumbag had nicked dd's lunchbox

It was near us but you cannot watch your belongings all the time when trying to play & keep your Lo safe. Over £10 worth of stuff nicked by some arse

puffling that's horrible; preying on mothers busy seeing to their babies' needs. Glad you had your wits about you !

what on eartj would someone get from stealing a changing bag? a few nappies and wipes?

have to say thgough that i have had that at Boots on city centre too, lock the doors religiously now or go elsewhere

mumindistress · 28/08/2006 20:25

well i keep my camera phone and purse in my babys changing bag. saves taking a handbag too, so if it had been me someone would have got an awful lot more than a few nappies .. maybe i should start to take a regular handbag out ..
