Conservatories - advice needed

We're thinking of having a conservatory built, and I've been blinded by science by the men who've come to give us quotes. What are all the different types of glass, and do we really need the special sun-resistant kind if it's going to be north facing?

Does anyone have any tips about glass types, window types, etc? Also, how do you clean the roof (only just thought about this)? And what sort of flooring do you think is best?

we're NOT in the conservatory thats for sure but as I said the kitchen leads into it so the kitchen got baking hot too.

yep, doors and windows flung open, but as we're next to fields we get flies (yuk) we have a fan but it just pushes hot air around like a hairdryer.

right - I'm getting you up here on the next hot day and I FORBID you put the aircon on and you'll have sit in the consy with the doors open.

the upside is you'll probably lose all your holiday fat!
