Have you ever been to a school reunion?

Researching here, I'm thinking about trying to organise one next year as it will be 15years since we left.
What was good? What was bad? What was funny?
Thought end Jan would be good as nobody has anything to do then and it's not too close to Xmas. What do you think?

I go to one about every 6-8 months. I'm in touch with 12 of my school-friends and consider them my dearest friends. On one occasion we went to something arranged by school - and it was quite nice to see a few people we'd lost contact with, but no friendships re-ignited - we were alrasy in touch with the people we wanted to be in touch with

I went to one 5 years ago. It was my sixth form reunion party - 10 years after leaving school. We had a room in a pub in the town we lived in. Lots came, including a few of our teachers. There were some pictures of school days - although been better if there had been more. Ours was in the summer. Ever since DH has kept in contact with one of our old school friends - infact I meet him again today (first time since reunion). Dh meets him about 3 times a year for lunch.

no but i would love someone from my old school to organise one as I dont live local anymore ... good luck

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 23/08/2006 21:54

Yup, definitely thought unofficially taking over a pub would be best. Less hideous Hollywood-style high school formality

I went to one for my primary school class. We held it unoffocially in the pub opposite the school and some people had just started it from the Friends Reunited website. I think about half the class was there - it was a scream. had been a bit anxious about it but we had such a luagh - the landlord had to throw us all out at midnight because we were still sat there chatting.

What was good was that different people had different memories but also were in touch with others nad could tell them bits and bobs of news about them. What was bad was one woman who, even byt the end of the evening, was still saying to me "I really can't remember you being in our class....."

No. No desire to go to one, either.

I went to one - I guess it was 10 years after we left at 16

Stuff that was good - lots of old photos stuck on the wall to check out, some of the old teachers showed up, we held it in the school hall

Funny - various people snogging and gossiping like we were 16 again

Bad - some girl who'd clearly gone a bit mental claiming to everyone that we'd really bullied her etc. Totally untrue!

went to 10 year reunion but not 20 year - figures those I kept up with were those I wanted to and so on.

Only 1 or 2 I have not kept up with that I would not mind being in touch with.

have been to a couple as a teacher - interesting to see how the kids turned out - whether they got to do what they want - how did the spooty oiky ones turn out is always interesting too.
