Loo paper goes down the loo. Think it then gets jettisined - but the height and speed of the plane means that it gets shredded to nothing.

The paper towels that yuo dry your hands with are supposed to go in the waste disposal "bin".

MerlinsBeard · 23/08/2006 10:58

in the loo

Tutter · 23/08/2006 10:58

please don't tell us you've been putting it where paper towels go?

those poor air steward(esse)s...

CountessDracula · 23/08/2006 10:59

in the loo - errrr, where else would you put it?

CountessDracula · 23/08/2006 10:59

(why are you embarrassed?!)

geekgrrl · 23/08/2006 11:04

in the loo and it all goes into a storage tank

Tech · 23/08/2006 11:05

Planes don't really dump sewage in mid-air. That's something of an urban myth. It goes into a tank that gets emptied on the ground.

Regards,
Tech (feeling all educative this morning).

MerlinsBeard · 23/08/2006 11:05

why embarrassed bnm?

bnm · 23/08/2006 11:09

Prettybird your answer is just what I thought must happen!

Okay I was embarrassed to have to ask because I thought I must have been putting it in the wrong place! I was in a big name cafe yesterday where a very loud woman was talking non-stop about a holiday she had been on. She talked very loudly about a man who had put the loo paper down the loo and blocked it because according to her everyone knows you shouldn't put loo paper down the loo because it swells unlike natural waste and blocks the loo if it doesn't manage to fly out of the plane etc etc. Her friend just agreed so I was thinking about the times I must have blocked the loo for the next person and not realised it was ME! Phew!

come on bnm, what have you been doing with the loo paper? We're all waiting here with bated breath...

prettybird · 23/08/2006 11:11

Have a look here .

It goes in to a holding tank as Tech says (but of course, he's always right! )

LieselVonTrapp · 23/08/2006 11:11

It gets processsed through the kitchen and they serve it up as in-flight meals.

geekgrrl · 23/08/2006 11:11

woops, cross-post. [gag] at thought of people putting loo paper in the bin ...

bnm · 23/08/2006 11:11

Also glad to hear the urban myth bit. There are times I have been walking and felt the odd spot of something wet and wondered if it's someones landing on me! Have just thought well I guess it happens to us all but now I know! See what I mean about wise and wonderful MNetters.
