extra £3 per person to go to the farm.

they know they will get that price though, its really unfair.

you it really is a southern thing, charging for farms. Our old local one in staffordshire was a working farm and used to make enough revenue off the tea shop/craft centre, without having to charge entrance fee to the farm. imagine my dismay when down in kent, I pack my family off to the farm to have the shock that it is actually £27 for a family for exactly the same attraction

misdee · 23/08/2006 08:45

its going to cost me £28.85 for me, 2 girls and a baby. during term time it would be 19.85

how do they make enough revenue off the shops/craft their though? Our old one if you wanted some tea on the way home you could pop into their bakery/deli and pick something lovely and homemade up. then they had the shop next door that sold their own meat/wine etc

I think though that some, in fact most, tourist attractions/farms/zoos etc are extorionate whatever time of year you go. I was looking at Paington Zoo, and worked out it was going to cost us about £30 to go in. That's for four of us, it must cost more if you have four kids

MrsFio · 23/08/2006 08:53

this was our old one

am actually tempted by the annual pass, i'd get more than my moneys worth i'm telling you. £125 for a family of 5. hm maybe not this year lol.

Gosh, I have never noticed any charge up here - maybe a Southern thing. So not on thogh.

LIZS · 23/08/2006 09:13

Not noticed particularly for holidays but then not tried out some of the local ones recently but they do seem to have increased generally this year.

nikkie · 23/08/2006 21:18

Our local ones charge but aren't that expensive,we tend to get annual passes for places but they aren't that dear either
There is only the ice cream farm near us that doesn't charge, but there is only a park and cows/pigs/sheep/hens to look at, ice cream is fab though if anyone is near Grange-over-sands

nikkie · 23/08/2006 21:19

We have had loads of vouchers in local papers/leaflets through the door for free child entrance /discounts
