dd1's bike stabalisers are off what now? grass or path

About to go to the park for dd1's first unaided bike ride, is it best to try on the grass first?

path - easier to cycle on -

She did good
she got on better on the grass to start with, as she had to pedal harder but graduated onto the path when she got her confidence. She was steady until she realised I wasn't holding her then wobbled and came off. She is really pleased she has managed to do it herself though and although she didn't go very far on her own is raring for another go
