Thinking of changing my mumsnet identity, would you mind?

After all and forthcoming media exposure !!! , I feel a bit ..... don't know, exposed really and if I do mention mumsnet on GMTV it'll be so obvious who I am to all sotts of people, inc people from my past and stuff, that can just read all about me if they so wish. So I kind of feel I should go all incognito, well, change my name at least.

I know this makes life confusing for everyone for a while so wanted to warn you I was thinking along those lines really.

canw e all chosoe a name?

what about Officer dibble?

Coddy · 17/03/2004 13:47

from website

"Top Cat - TC to his close friends - is the sharp talking leader of a merry bunch of Manhattan alley cats: Fancy Fancy, Spook, Benny, Brain and Choo Choo."

oliveoil · 17/03/2004 13:48

But they would be able to look up old posts anyway wouldn't they and see what you have been saying about them?!! (so ha to snidey book club girl)

Or do you mean for future?

yOU will have to remember not to mention lottie. And not many people on here have children with DS (I think??) so we may be able to put 2 and 2 together.

Northerner · 17/03/2004 13:48

I'm a bit confused! (it happens often) Just don't mention MN on GMTV, would that work? Even if you change your MN nae all of your old posts will still be here.

Coddy · 17/03/2004 13:48

Buried deep within New York's intricate system of avenues and back streets lies Hoagy's Alley.

Situated a short distance away from the docks, this Manhattan hideaway is home to Top Cat and his crew.

Sleeping in a trashcan (dustbin), TC resides quietly beside Office Dibble's police phone (back in the early '60s, pocket sized radios where unheard of).

The maze of alleyways is filled with empty crates and junk and surrounded by tenement buildings - low-cost turn of the century housing, warehouses and small businesses.

Washing lines criss-cross from building to building, and metal fire escapes provide vantage points, meeting and resting places for the gang

With Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx nearby, the cosmopolitan nature of city life is reflected in the cast of characters who pass through the alley, from Italian deli' owners to Irish cops.

Amongst the businesses backing onto Hoagy's is a ten pin bowling alley.

Thomcat · 17/03/2004 13:49

I love you Copddy!!
Officer Dibble is the name of my FIL's cat actually!
He's more Officer DRIBBLE these days!
It's a bit long though.
Maybe I could just be TC? And i'll stop referring to Lottie as Lottie.

Tc understand totally

Thomcat · 17/03/2004 14:03

Yeah, I know they could look up old posts, and I dodn't have anything to hide, it's not that, I just would feel a bit exposed and I don't know really.... I just thinki would feel better if some old rat-bag from school didn't see me on GMTV, hear mumsnet, log on, see Thomcat and start bothering me. But true, there aren't masses of mothers on here with daughters who have DS and it wouldn't be difficult to put 2 and 2 together.

I might just shorten it to TC so it's not confusing to people but not SO obvious and just try not and call DD her name anymore. I hate all that DD, DP, DH stuff though!

oliveoil · 17/03/2004 14:07

Yes me too, I put Grace down once and then thought 'oh no, people will know its me from her name'!

SenoraPostrophe · 17/03/2004 14:10

thomcat - this happened before and the poster changed her name, told all of us what the new name was and then got tech to delete all old posts (and the threads directly related to the article were deleted too). A bit drastic, but since Mumsnet will get a mention on GMTV, I don't think they'll mind!

Thomcat · 17/03/2004 14:12

Thanks SP. I don't feel the need to be that drastic but just going forward think I might like to be a little less obvious.

fio2 · 17/03/2004 14:28

yeh i put my dd's name down a few times and then TC(!!!) typed her name in and i was thinking how did she now? he, he, he (mrs paranoid me)

fio2 · 17/03/2004 14:28

know i mean, god my typing is getting worse

Coddy · 17/03/2004 14:45

oh please be soemthing more interesting!

it doesnt matter aboutthe lengtha s it autoprompts you anyway

fio2 · 17/03/2004 14:46

god coddy i thought my typing was bad

Coddy · 17/03/2004 14:47

lol

i regard it as my idiosyncracy... idio somehting anyway

speed over accuracy thats me

CountessDracula · 17/03/2004 15:01

I agree with Coddy, TC too boring (though I call you that anyway!)

Thomcat · 17/03/2004 15:21

It's easy for other people to type TC when talking to me was what i was thinking.

Okay, I'll go back to the drawing board.
Maybe I'll be Dibble? i think it would be fairer on you lot if there was a connection to the old name, no??

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 17/03/2004 15:22

I like your name as it is now

marthamoo · 17/03/2004 15:26

Fine with me, TC...so long as I still know who you are. Trying to think of Top Cat related names, and first thing that springs to mind is Dustbin...Dusty Bin...trashcan...mmm...maybe not. Or you could have a nod to your new found media-star status: CelebGirl or GMTVMum Though that might be a little obvious...

How was your book club night?

lou33 · 17/03/2004 15:28
