Anyone living/planning to move to Hastings?

we are thinking of moving to Hastings or Battle as thats where my dh is from, cheap houses,lovely countryside etc, just wondering what others think of the place?? also want to be near the sea...
i know hastings has a reputation for being a bit rough but is it improving?? i know Battle is nicer but more expensive..

My parents are in Bexhill but I don't really know much about the area. you are right about Hastings. It is "rough" but appears to be undergoing a large amount of regeneration.

Used to live in Hastings and you will be surprised. Most of it is fantastic - honestly!! Just steer clear of Hollington and Ore and you should be fine.

Whereabouts in Bexhill do your parents live Soupdragon, and do you ever visit them there?
