I have just had a letter from British Gas upping my electricity direct debit from 30.00 to a whopping 52.00 based on the past years usage. It last went up about 2 years ago from 27 to 30.

I am shocked and just wanted to let everyone know. I will be changing supplier but wanted to wait until all of the others have whacked their prices up. This is a big shock and I am now worried about how much gas is going to go up!

It said on the radio that we are all paying 70% more for gas now than 2 years ago .

expatinscotland · 14/08/2006 10:26

That's cheap.

We use Scottish Power. This flat is all electric and we have no choice in that b/c it is a rental.

It's a 2 bedroom.

We pay £75/month.

And it's capped till 2007.

Actual charge is £102/month.

Expat, my heating & cooking is all gas so this is just for lights/tv/pc. My gas bill is already 90 permonth. Wonder what I have in store with that.

we pay £124 a month to Powergen for gas and electricity - just waiting for them to bash us over the head with the increases.

Damn, UCM. But that does sound about right, though.

It's moving into the sphere of insanity here.

We moved to a much bigger house recently and our new bills have been horrifying (despite the fact that this is a brand new, alledgedly super efficient place). Christ only knows what they new one will be.

NomDePlume · 14/08/2006 10:49

the new adjusted bill, I mean

Our house loses heat appallingly. We are only allowed secondary glazing (conservation area - fair enough), but the windows are massive and despite c heating on full the house, especially upstairs is extremely cold.

I know we must be leaking cash, but it's the windows that are the problem.

I am going to be in the poo then arent i

as Npower are charging us £19 per month for both gas and electric
yes you read right

have questioned this but they say this is correct
