Or can anyone recommend something that works for ages. Can't see this period in my life going away quickly and have already had a real panic attack and been sick. Don't want to go to GP

have you tried rescue remedy?
never tried kalms so can't comment
I suffer from panic attacks, if you could bear to go to the gp they could refer you to a psychologist. that REALLY helped me with coping with them and they lessened
also anti deppressants help alot with anxiety and panic

I have tried kalms and they are okay before bedtime. The best thing that got me off to sleep was thr Piriton hayfever tablets. I say that because if you are anything like me I lay awake all night worrying about EVERYTHING and sometimes even come downstairs to check on something. Rescue Remedy is cool too ( I think it's more of a mind thing though)!!! What you need is positive people around you and if you haven't got any find some online like this websire as it helps just to talk to someone without being judged. I should know because I have come on here today for the self same thing as I was feeling a bit down. Try to indulge yourself with a bubbly bath or a bar of chocolate or something. Big (hug) to you x

Thanks for responses, I'll try valerian tablets or tincture first, think I've heard of them in big name chemist/big name health food place. Seriously thinking of going to GP but my stress/worry seems so trivial that I fear being told to do deep breathing.

Also worried about this going on my health records. Many years ago was off work for stress for a few weeks and then when I tried to get out of the situation to a new job I remember an application form asked about stress-related illnesses or something during the last 5 years!

Bach Rescue Remedy is very good. I have tried Kalms though and theyre okay but not as effective as Bach. Doesnt make you drowsy either.

valerian are v good for sending you to sleep - but have a look at the ingredients of all these things cos I think kalms are valerian. I know I sound like a bit of an old dear, or even a useless health visitor but fresh air and exercise are incredibly good for stress and not being able to sleep; also not going on the comupter late at night, bath with lavendar oil.

valerian at night time, really calms the turmoil down.

apparently tincture of ashwagandha root is very good for insomnia and anxiety - available in holland and barrett and the like
