I've been asked to share and ask others to report the page and it really is awful. Facebook are refusing to take it down because it contains no nudity...what do we do?????

Whatnamenext · 23/02/2014 22:39

I've just received the email that FB aren't going to remove it. I replied with:

"Seriously?

Have you actually looked at this? Are any of you parents?

Shame on you for what you consider is appropriate. "

Scrambled - I just want to say I see what you mean. Originally I clicked on the thread; guessed what was in it (you can see the OP's link title). I hid the thread.

Then I was watching the Jeremy Forrest documentary and thought - well isn't this just a lovely way to turn my back on an issue. If all of us turn and look away then where would we be?

I'm not one to clutch my pearls and freak at the 'sick peados' that prey on our children when out in the park/ or in the classroom.... but THIS? We can't be afraid to look and act. Social Media is a powerful tool for 'good and bad'.

Dillydollydaydream · 23/02/2014 22:39

Oh that's really hideous :(

fideline · 23/02/2014 22:39

repurcussions* (As well as being the right thing to do obs)

Funnyfoot · 23/02/2014 22:39

They can go in shut the page down, get the identities of those that created, those that posted pictures and those that liked it. They can also get the identities of the vile sick fuckers family members and work places. Anonymous will bring them down if needs be.

Crazedpinkstarfish · 23/02/2014 22:40

Hmm where the hell are MNHQ?

LordFocus · 23/02/2014 22:40

Yes I'm in the dark about anonymous too - who they? I have just posted a request on facebook for anyone with pics of my children on their page to take them down. I don't put up pics of my children unless they are standing right next to me but I know some of the other mums at school have taken pictures of them and put them up with me tagged. I've never felt comfortable of this but now I have been convinced to take action.

RunRunRuby · 23/02/2014 22:40

Please don't follow links from the page. They are likely to be illegal and highly distressing. There are police teams who are specially trained to deal with these situations. Once they have been alerted to the page they will be able to collect the names and contact details themselves. Also as someone else mentioned, any vigilante action could jeopardise future criminal proceedings. I know everyone means well but imagine how you would feel if someone wasn't charged because of a well-meaning but untrained Internet user collecting their own evidence or contacting their employer etc.

BuntyCollocks · 23/02/2014 22:41

Anonymous are on the case. Thank god for them.

Mogz · 23/02/2014 22:41

Well I've had a reply from Facebook saying they won't take it down so I sent a feedback message to ask them to look in to it further and change their guild lines, hopefully that will get to a person instead of being run through a bit of software.

alabasterangel · 23/02/2014 22:41

Vile. Vile. Vile. I too thought / anticipated it would be about some slogan clothing or the like. I can't believe anyone could get away with this. Ridiculous.... And scary.

Meglet · 23/02/2014 22:42

Are CEOPS manned 24/7?

fideline · 23/02/2014 22:43

Could only find report facilities for online grooming on CEOP website

Minorchristmascrisis · 23/02/2014 22:44

I've reported the page and also some individual photos but got the same reply. I've also reported this thread but only to highlight it to mnhq

Mignonette · 23/02/2014 22:44

Have heard from HQ and they will be discussing this tomorrow morning. They are as outraged as everybody but HQ you MUST remove that link.

AlpacaYourThings · 23/02/2014 22:45

fideline I have already reported the page to IWF. Thank you for the reassurance. The content of that page is so disturbing...

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/02/2014 22:45

I've just reported it to the police via 101. V sympathetic operator said she would pass details on to 'Intel'.

ilovemybum · 23/02/2014 22:46

How do you report this to CEOPS? Absolutely vile.

CatherineMumsnet · 23/02/2014 22:46

Thanks to all those that have reporter this - we agree that it's horrific and also agree that the link to the page should be removed, so we'll do that now.

We're a bit thin on the ground being a Sunday eve but we'll review this as a team in the morning.

RunRunRuby · 23/02/2014 22:46

OP, please don't feel bad, I wasn't having a go at you, sorry if it seemed that way. Like I said, I take full responsibility for not reading the thread or link properly before clicking! But just that the thread title alone gives no indication that this is about child abuse and even opening the thread could be a trigger for someone who has experienced that, it's upsetting enough for those of us who haven't, so I thought best to request a warning :) also it gives MNHQ a chance to see the thread and protect themselves legally.

I did also suggest in my message, although it's probably not the right place for it, that this might be something than Mumsnet could consider for a campaign?

LovelyMarchHare · 23/02/2014 22:47

CEOPS is 24/7 I believe.

I am amazed at Fb issuing bans to people reporting this page . Very bizarre reaction. They can't allow the page to remain, surely?

ScrambledeggLDCcakeBOAK · 23/02/2014 22:47

Hi SUPADUPA

I'm sorry if Iv made you feel bad.

YOU ARE RIGHT TO MAKE US AWARE!

Please don't worry! Honestly!

I just had a shock, I didn't expect a link to (almost) child porn on mn.

I should have looked at the link better.

Just for future maybe say a quick bit of info before the link that's all.

Mignonette · 23/02/2014 22:48

Scrambled You are a fucking legend my love Flowers

RunRunRuby · 23/02/2014 22:48

Catherine would you be able to add a warning to the thread title too?

supadupapupascupa · 23/02/2014 22:49

noted x

Facebook should and must be absolutely SLAUGHTERED for allowing this. It is almost unbelievable that they are allowing such content.
