Hiya,
We had one in the loft, flying out a small hole at the back of the house. My thought was similar to yours, and also where do the wasps go.
A private business did ours, and they went into the loft, and sprayed it from a few metres away, then went into the back garden and sprayed again at the hole.
We didnt see any wasps at all, and none "got" into the house.

its just one hole in the bottom of the wall.

They'll probably just spray into the hole. With us, the wasps take it into the nest, so it kills most of them in the nest itself. We asked if we needed to keep the windows closed, or to warn any neighbours etc, and we didn't.

Same here misdee, told neighbours two weeks ago they had a nest near sons room. Cant eat a bloody meal in peace without a couple or three coming in to buzz around your head.

It infuriates me that you cant insist that it is dealt with. My dh is allergic to stings and ended up in hossy last year cos of the other neighbours wasp nest in her garden.

She did have it dealt with as she wasnt aware of it and nor were we until dh was gardening closeby and got stung.

The current neighbour dont seem to of done anything about it and we feel that we have to keep windows closed, flaming boiling in this weather.

I think there should be some sort of directive as to dealing with these things for the health and safety of others.

tenalady you can get a net cover which sticks down over the window frame (from bettaware) i posted ages ago coz i hate flies/wasps etc and someone told me about them, I have it on my bedroom window and have been able to keep the room cool and they only cost about a tena and you can get a door cover too

Misdee, with me we didn't have any wasps at all in the house. We only knew because of the sound they were making. Even next door said they didn't have any there. Can you ring them too see exactly what they did. My dh rang the company who did ours (I've got a complete phobia about them) and they told us exactly what they would do. For example, don't have it done late evening, as the wasps are less active so can't spread the poison as much.

I remember that net you posted in the betterware book or similar, I found the thread shortly after and copied it to somebody else, sadly I didnt get one at the time

theladyvanishes · 08/08/2006 20:16

We had wasps nest in wall near back door. Got some wasp nest killer from B+Q, (can also get it from Morrisons) it is a foam watch out when you spray, it goes every where, Sprayed twice on two evenings, wasps have gone. Only use this stuff if you are confident in doing so as the wasps tend to get rather anoyed.
