great! Cos its still not out of my system.

FIL has really pissed me off by being an utter arse. He has spent 3.5m in ireland with bil/sil and their kids, and not seen ds or baby dd. Since he has been back 2m he has seen them twice. Is back off to Ireland monday for twins bday.

He and his brother are currently residing in a caravan in n. wales. He suggested we stay there whilst they are away. DH duly changes days off so can have a weekend. ds 3.10 is beside himself with excitement.

DH speaks to arse-in-law today to be told

1. No they are not visiting their grandchildren before they go despite not having seen them for 4 weeks and being just an hour away and retired.
2. He cannot drop the van keys off and offers no alternative. So we cannot get in. Ds sobs.
3. He would come up, but they have to pack, and are saving money, so don't want to use the petrol

Where to f-ing start! Am so and for dh and ds (dd 11mo so couldnt care less)

Feel so sorry for your ds when he was so looking forward to it.

tortoise it would appear not. Am going to ring tomorrow when have calmed down, and suggest they leave them with the site manager (they are living there for several months so should know them pretty well)

DH hasn't said much, but can tell he is well p'd off. Oh, FIL's piece-de-resistance? Suggesting that dh might like to make the 2 hr drive down there to collect said keys after he finishes work tomorrow. He is starting at 4am!
though I shouldn't be surprised.

thanks notasheep. TBH it's not the break so much for me, as the fact he has yet again let down dh and ds. Still can't believe he told me (after had commandeered the 'phone, though v restrained) that the petrol would cost too much. I just said "Oh ok, if that's more important..." Wonder how much it costs to go to Ireland? [sarky emoticon]

wwh I have occasionally. Have to be careful not to upset dh, especially as he is realising how crap his dad is. If I do try to bring things up though, FIL just says "Mmmn" which is v frustrating. There's a whoel lot more to it than this. Feel I must now say something, as am stuck with him for the forseeable, and now it is starting to affect ds. If I don't address it then I will end up hating him (even more )

I really want to say "Please remember you have two sons and two sets of grandchildren". I don't want ds to notice that him and his sister are treated differently to his cousins.

God that is really sad that they think so little of your kids .All I csan say is that this is their loss not the kids because they have great parents to make up for shit grandparents.

I know it's awful for you that FIL is like this but actually it's his problem. If he thinks so little of his ds and his family then there is something wrong with him. Not sure what to suggest re-the keys, but TBH if someone was this weird with me I would not want to have much to do with them.

saadia, you are quite right of course. I actually cant stand the man, due to a catalogue of various incidents like this. If it were up to me I would- and do- rejoice in not having to see them. But I thought I was doing the right thing for my children by trying to let them in their lives as much as poss. Should really learn my lesson, as I am forever asking them to come round and they always have some excuse.

Anyway, the update from the mad twosome is that dh has phoned from work to say his uncle (it is fil and his brother, not mil) has texted him to say they are now coming round at 1pm. Not can they, is the time ok etc. Haven't enough food in to feed them, so dh has "suggested" me and the two children go shopping to get some.Has instructed me to be nice

Can you buy them a plastic petrol can for christmas and tape a tenner to it for their christmas present this year . Seeing as they are so skint . LOL The childslave name came about because after last week thats exactly what I felt like LOL
