Baby no2, 4weeks pregnant and got cramps any advice?

Found out that I am pregnant over the weekend and am totaly over the moon, but I have been having a lot more cramps with this pregnancy. Been to see doc today and she said the usual "we can't say for sure and you just have to wait see if you miscarry. What will be, will be".

Pains are generally in the pelvic area and some higher in the stomach. They are not there all the time just on and off and feel like period cramps. Have no bleeding (fingers crossed i don't get any either).

I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this, if so what was it? Also those with more than one child, did you get more pains with the second? Or those with twins did you get more pain then when you were carrying just one?

congrats i only have the one i'm afraid so i can't say anything really, i know its hard but try not to worry. I did have the most horrendous wind pains infact one night i was in tears because of it. Nice cuppa and put your feet up if you are able to

lionheart · 02/08/2006 14:30

I was told that this can happen in the early stages at around the time your period would have been due if you hadn't become pregnant. Does that help?

Hope you are o.k.

Bramshott · 02/08/2006 14:57

If it's any consolation bubblez, I feel sort of the same - 4.5 weeks preg with No 2 and feel sort of tight, crampey and achey in whole stomach/pevic region. Wondering if there's something wrong, whether I just forgot about this from last time, or whether it's just that I'm more aware of it this time round.

Fingers crossed for both of us!

Hattie05 · 02/08/2006 15:00

Hi i'm pg with no. 2 and have had this in both pg's for at least the first three months each time my period would have been due. I worried first time round, but it seemed everyone i asked had had the same so i felt reassured!

I'm 24 wks now and all is going well, so i am sure you'll be fine

pinkranger · 02/08/2006 15:14

congratulations

I am alos preg with my second and am experince the same , had really bad cramps when i found out at 4 weeks , am eight weeks now and they seem bad again this week but as hattie05 said , this would have been the time that my period was due!

Really stressed with them at first but i found that you just try and relax they get less.
Good Luck

Thank you all for your replies and congrats to Hattie05, Bramshott and pinkranger on your pregnancies.

I knew I could rely on mnetters to make me feel a little more at ease.

When I mentioned to the doc that twins run in mine and dp's family she also said that if i was pgnant with twins it would make sense that I would get more pains then last time.. Any truth in this?

I think from what is being said here that I feel a lot better though and more relaxed about the sit.

I had lots of these and was forever rushing to the toilet to see if I was bleeding or not. It's just your uterus starting to readjust its size again and is very normal. Hope everything goes well. I think your GP could have been a bit kinder though!

bubblez · 02/08/2006 16:21

Thanks beansprout. It's funny cos I just had a feeling that she would say something like that as with dd I had spotting and my doc was like (his words not mine) "what are you worrying about? There is nothing that you can do, if you are going to loose the baby you can't stop it so just stop worrying". After which I promply burst into an uncontrolable sob.

Doctors hey!

I must say though that mn is much more helpful.

Hi Bubblez and Congrats!

I have had these feelings on and off too for last couple weeks. I'm only 5 weeks with my 2nd and I worry off and on about it, but tbh would probably worry anyway no matter what!
I think Nicki form the positive Aug thread has this too as she posted about it in the pg bit.
Good luck!

liquidclocks · 02/08/2006 19:00

1st pg - absolute breeze, no pain/bleeding etc, sadly miscarried at 16 weeks.
2nd pg - loads of pain, bleeding, sickness fatigue - healthy baby boy bang on due date!
3rd pg - loads of pain again, less bleeding, generally felt ill - due to arrive in 8 wks!

Stay positive, GP's right, what will be will be but cramoing and bleeding can be totally normal in a healthy pg.

Good luck!

katierocket · 02/08/2006 19:02

bubblez, I was TTC for two years then got pregnant have cycle of IVF. I had terrible period like pains and was convinced that it was over but (fingers crossed) am 16 weeks now. Congratulations BTW

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 02/08/2006 21:17

Congrats all. I'd forgotten how much bogroll you get through checking you're still pg .
I had cramps from 4-5wks and a bit of bleeding after sex with my first. Keep an eye on any other pg symptoms and don't panic unless they go away. As long as I had electric nipples during that time I knew I was still pg
Roll on the morning sickness eh?

jay4568 · 02/08/2006 22:00

I had pains like you describe with my second pg. After I'd had them on and off for a week (and no bleeding) I was tested for a urine infection and result came bck positive so it maybe worth a trip back to the surgery if things don't improve?

I had another two infections before I was 12 wks and then they mysteriously disappeared and I had a trouble free pregnancy

bubblez · 03/08/2006 17:49

Hello all just noticed these replys thank you.

The pains seem to be a litte less frequent now, still a little cautious though. You know what it's like worry until the day they arrive . (well at least until the first 12weeks are over)

Sorry about your 1st pregnancy liquidclocks congratulations on your 3rd hope you have a healthy baby and an easy labour.

Congratulations on all the other pregnant ladies

Hi Bobblehead how is your pregnancy going? Hope your morning sickness has eased up. That reminds me, I have to find Nicki and see how she is getting on.

bubblez · 03/08/2006 18:12

Yeah I know what you mean about being tired esp when you have to run after a lo as well.

Touch wood that we can all keep the ms away though hey!! That is one of the other things that I worry about
