Its in the freezer atm

Do you just put it in the fridge to defrost? How long for? How do you know when its defrosted?

Can you cook it from frozen? If so, how long for to compensate for the frozeness?

Am learning to cook, albeit very slowly....

I cook my salmon in the oven from frozen now....ever since I got some from tecso that was frozen and had instrucions to be cooked that way (IYGWIM?).

I wrap mine in foil (one piece per foil) and put into oven on 200c for 25/30mins.

I do check halfway thro to make sure it is cooking ok.....200c may be too high for some ovens...mine is getting old tho!!!

HTH

I wouldn't cook it from frozen but if you place it in a plastic bag, tie a knot in it and run it under a cold tap it should defrost in about 20 mins. That said may not be a great idea with the drouhgt....

This may sound stupid but I awlays do a whole salmon in the dishwasher - (wrapped in tin foil of course)

Tutter · 02/08/2006 12:26

lunch at 2pm???

surely that's coffee and cake time?

TambaIsBadBadBad · 02/08/2006 12:35

Coffee and cake sounds good - yuk!

We have breakfast late here so it has a knock on affect onto lunch time

You wrap salmon in tin foil and put in dishwasher - obviously without any other dishes or soap in it. Put the dishwasher on your hot cycle - differs from one machine to another but mine takes about 45 mins. And taraaaaaaa - you have one perfectly cooked salmon. You can do this with most fish but Ive only ever done it with salmon.
