I have a theory about mooncups and breastmilk... (there's a clue here, it's a TMI thread, OK?)

If you don't find a mooncup gross, you'll have tasted your own bmilk.

If you do find them gross, you're less likely to have done.

There. Prove me wrong

do u find them gross hm?

tortoise · 31/07/2006 22:45

I dont find them gross and would have one if i didnt have a coil fitted so hardly any blood loss!
And i havn't tried my own(or anyone elses) breast milk.

hunkermunker · 31/07/2006 22:46

I don't find them gross. And I've tasted my own bmilk (it's gross, but that's beside the point ).

i dont find them gross. have tasted my own milk, but only because i heated up EBM and licked my wrist (a bit like that friends episode lol)

MrsSpoon · 31/07/2006 22:47

I support your theory hunkermunker , just haven't yet got round to ordering my Mooncup, have been meaning to for a while.

TarteAuCitroen · 31/07/2006 22:49

Wear Mooncup. Have tasted own breastmilk. Find neither gross.

Ta-dah!

Xena · 31/07/2006 22:51

mooncup yuk and no i haven't tried bmilk so that proves your other theory

melpomene · 31/07/2006 22:52

Interesting theory.

I have tasted my own bmilk (and it was nice - surprisingly sweet, like a cross between melted icecream and coconut milk. )

But I do feel a bit queasy at the idea of using a mooncup - mainly the idea of blood getting spilt all over the place when taking it out...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
freak out

FanjoBanjoCanjoZanjo · 31/07/2006 22:53

Wrong

On both counts

Proof not needed nor forthcoming

FanjoBanjoCanjoZanjo · 31/07/2006 22:55

Some people on here are clearly obsessed and it's seriously worrying

Eulalia · 31/07/2006 22:56

Have tasted own b/milk. Not tried a mooncup (am very lucky hardly had any periods with breastfeeding my kids) but may try one and it certainly doesn't gross me.

tigertum · 31/07/2006 23:54

This feels very liberating as I've never owned up to tasting my own milk - which I did once! There!

Have never used a mooncup but don't find it gross, which backs your theory.

psychomum5 · 31/07/2006 23:58

hmmmmmm

have tried breast milk.....well, when baby pulls off and it sprays everywhere managed to get so on rebound once.

tried otherwise tho, just to see whether it was really sweet or not. tis sweet!!!

mooncups tho.......really not for me, but then I don't need them anyhow. still thinking that public toilets and mooncups tho really don't mix!

tigertum · 01/08/2006 00:11

Thought about this more now and I think the potential yuck factor is emptying them and seeing & pouring a small yet substantial amount of your own blood away. Maybe?

threebob · 01/08/2006 03:43

breastmilk is converted blood. I have tasted my own breastmilk and my mooncup was delivered today.

I have also given it to FIL in tea. That'll teach him to expect tea from a postnatal woman.

monkey · 01/08/2006 03:58

if it helps I've used a mooncup for ages now and I've never accidentally or otherwise spilt it, mearly emptied it in a place pre-chosen by me.

and I have tried my own bm.

Despite my age I am still stupidly embarrassed about buying as dh puts it 'jam rags' and it's great never having to buy thm again, worrying about running out, having supplies at the bottom of handbag. ANd I've never had a public toilet problem. ever.

I find mooncup less squeemish than tampons. def.

ZacharyQuack · 01/08/2006 04:03

Tasted own bm, starting to come around to the idea of a mooncup.

suzywong · 01/08/2006 05:06

spot on

It makes a lovely quiche

Spagblog · 01/08/2006 08:03

PMSL Threebob! Good on you, wish I'd thought of that.
I have tried bm and use a mooncup.
