some old lady is saying that exposing your breasts in public makes you immoral and you will go to hell. (they are doing an art project about getting boobs out in NYC)

i'd have started laughing at her and shown her my fanny. or arse. or both.

its nothing to do with breastfeeding, but its about breast awareness. one of the atomic kitten girls is on it. they have covered breast cancer, bra fitter, nipple reconstruction and boobs in new york.
its not illegal to get your baps out apparently in NYC. (i think thats what they said anyhow lol)

They really are more uptight about nudity or toplessness in the US.

PiccadillyCircus · 28/07/2006 21:56

Sounds like I'll be entering an inferno sooner or later then.

misdee · 28/07/2006 21:57

ooo she had a cast made of her breasts. i'd love to have that done!

they're wicked uptight about fanjos and willies, too, fanjo.

PiccadillyCircus · 28/07/2006 21:58

I think if I had had that done it should have been a few months ago - they have somewhat diminished now .

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 21:59

I know, I know.

Well, they would be, if they knew what a Fanjo was.

expatinscotland · 28/07/2006 22:01

they don't know that BOLLOCKS is a sweary word, either.

FanjoandZooey · 28/07/2006 22:01

This title is a little disturbing if you read it, as I did, as

"please someone tell me they are also watching my breasts"

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 22:02

"Fanny" is also not actually a bad word in the US. Hence the term "Fanny pack".

FanjoandZooey · 28/07/2006 22:13

Yes it means bottom, doesn't it? I remember the first time I heard an American use it, something like "he gave her a little squeeze on the fanny". I was like What???

expatinscotland · 28/07/2006 22:15

yep, it's a bum there. a fanny = bum

i say BOLLOCKS all the time whilst talking to them and they don't get it.

i also call people fannies and they just think i mean bum.

i also give them wrong directions in edinburgh.

misdee · 28/07/2006 22:16

i remember the mork and mindy epiosde with the word wank/wanker??' (a mr wanker IIRC??) as over there it wasnt seen as rude lol.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 28/07/2006 22:18

no, it isn't, misdee. nor is TOSSER. or sod off, piss off or bog off.

or bugger. they just think that's funny. you can tell them to bugger off and they think you just mean clear off.

you can also give them wrong directions and they'll believe you .

they don't know what a wind up is.

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 22:36

Oh god, I thought "tosser" meant vomiting person (as in "toss your cookies").

I had some severe confusion re: the term "fanny fart".

And I complimented a man on his suspenders.

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 22:37

Fanny really is a bit of a prissy girls' word for bum. I wouldn't really use it back home, except in the expression "fanny pack".

It's the kind of word older female teachers use to children, "go sit on your fannies".

expatinscotland · 28/07/2006 22:38

they also fail to understand taking the piss, taking the mick, etc.

toss pot, wank stain, wanky, pile of wank, git, fanny, flange, minge, tadger and minger are all fair game when dealing w/them.

expatinscotland · 28/07/2006 22:40

other, Scottish slang are still a mystery to them. dobber, nugget, numpty, bawbag, etc.

i get away w/lots.

i especially like to call things by their Scots name, even tho they're spelled very differently.

so they wind up on wild goose chases.
