I was talking to a friend today about baths and she was saying how long it took to bath them all (herself & two kids) in the morning and at night- i explained we only bathed at night and she looked at me in discuss.

So am i a dirty buggar or is it normal to only bath once a day

well we are dirtier lol. at my old place i had a shower so could shower every day, but now i have a bath every day and a half, kids get bathed about 3 times a week. dirty arent we. but when i get a lovely shower fitted i'll be clean every day.

btw we do wash every day, twice a day.

nutcracker · 04/03/2004 18:06

Me and dp have a bath every day (no not together). The kids have a bath on sundays, tuesdays and thursdays, and strip washes in between.

melsy · 04/03/2004 18:11

I shower in the morning if going out, otherwise I might have a bath in the evening (mainly to relax and aid sleep). Seems pointless if staying at home to clean, cook food etc. My dd gets bathed Sundays, Wednesdays & Fridays. All other times I just wipe her over with a flannel or wipe.

suzywong · 04/03/2004 18:15

I think you are very clean indeed. Baby gets a full immersion once a week and top and tail evey night, big boy every other day in Winter and I am(or third) day.

Slink · 04/03/2004 18:41

dh and i shower every morning and if not rushing dd will join me.

dd has a bath everynight coz she likes it but i wash her hair once a week is that bad?????

squirmyworm · 04/03/2004 18:49

I used to do ds every night but he got quite dry skin on his legs and tummy and hv advised missing out a day every now and then (he loves it so I don't miss that many) - his skin is better for less frequent baths I think. I have a good soak every day or two days depending on whether there's spare hot water/time.

Morning and evening fairydust? she's do-lally...and a bit hyper hygienic in my view

fairydust · 04/03/2004 18:52

well it's nice to know i'm normal - i honsitly don't know were she finds the time to do every morning andnight

dh and I shower every morning, I feel grumpy otherwise......need it to wake up and feel human. Dd has a bath every night, wash her hair about 3 times a week.
see, French people DO wash

Kayleigh · 04/03/2004 19:08

Dh and I shower every morning. I will also shower in the evening if going out and getting changed as i just cannot put clean clothes onto a dirty body. I also bath occasionally in the evening if I have time to myself (in my gorgeous lavendar bath oil -thank you Lydialemon).

In winter I bath ds1 and ds2 every other night, with just an occasional lapse if we are home late from being out or I just can't be bothered . Tends to be bath night most nights in summer as they are usually playing in the garden and get filthy.

I think anyone that baths twice a day is plain nuts.

roisin · 04/03/2004 19:14

Ds2 bathes nightly. I've recently taken to bathing ds1 (6.5) less frequently - say 2 or 3 times a week. But it seems a huge hassle to get him to wash properly if he doesn't have a bath. Much easier just to dunk him in the bath for 5 mins. Anyone else have this problem? Hints or tips to resolve it?

zebra · 04/03/2004 19:20

Do you really want the truth, FD?
I know I said this before... ok, DS (age 4) about 1x/week. DD (age 2) about 5x/week. Me... er, rather closer to DS.
Hey, DH still fancies me

MrsCodswallop · 04/03/2004 19:21

I lounge in the bath between 745 and 8 am aevry morning.

Bliss

suzywong · 04/03/2004 19:22

Is that before you DSs get up? If it isn't what's your secret?

MrsCodswallop · 04/03/2004 19:23

after!

MrsCodswallop · 04/03/2004 19:26

we do breakfasta and I make sandwiches between 7 and 7 15 - I tidy up downstairs and feed cat do dishwasher etc then ds1 gets his bag etc sorted out and dresses himself

ds2 I dress (well he does some bits) and then by 745 they are all done ready to go and they watch tv or play . I get out at 8 ish and then dress myself do hair and make up and dress baby.

Oh and i Normaly do a load of washing too.

spacemonkey · 04/03/2004 19:28

Anyone who bathes twice a day obviously hasn't got anything better to do! Ridiculous.

MrsCodswallop · 04/03/2004 19:29

I would love to

have been known to run a bath for baby and then gte in it first before him

suzywong · 04/03/2004 19:31

You really are the lady on the moderator's page aren't you? I admire your organisational skills (and personal hygiene)

handlemecarefully · 04/03/2004 20:52

Me - shower every morning.

DD - bath two or three times per week (mostly for the recreational value rather than to get clean)

Your twice daily batheing friend ? - nice but nutty is she?!?

fisil · 04/03/2004 21:00

I had a bath & a shower today, and that's not unusual.

I have short & unruly hair which just has to be washed every morning or I would upset all my students (and I like the shower to kick start my body at 6 a.m.!)

Then after a very quick go on Mumsnet (ha ha ha), I think "TV or read in the bath?" in order to relax. Read in the bath often wins.

So neither is connected to cleanliness. And if I have a bath in the evening, I have to shower, cos my hair gets damp, so I am more of a mess than usual in the morning!

fisil · 04/03/2004 21:01

Sorry - the bath bit is in the evenings after ds is in bed - not straight after the shower as my post seems to imply!

Emski · 04/03/2004 21:11

DP and I shower every morning, DD every other night unless she's more than usually grubby, her hair gets washed maybe twice a week, strip washes in between.

Why do I find this thread so interesting!!?

Hulababy · 04/03/2004 21:18

Me - every morning
DH - every morning

DD is 22 months and she has a bath nearly every night. She missed her bath tonight as we were running behind time, but she will have one in the morning to make up for it.
