Car leaking some watery substance - should I drive it?

Noticed that the car (only 7 months old) is leaking onto driveway. Looks like water and could well be water. Got on hands and knees and it is dripping (not flooding) from underneath at the front, between the two front wheels.

Any idea what it might be?

I've called Volvo Assistance and they could be up to 4/5 hours, and I really need to get to the shops for a birthday present for a party tomorrow

It'll be your Air conditioning.

tenalady · 28/07/2006 12:01

I think you might find it is air conditioning unit.
Ive been told it isnt anything to worry about.

misdee · 28/07/2006 12:02

open the bonnet and check all your fluid levels. see if anything obviousw is leaking.

did it rain last night?

YellowFeathers · 28/07/2006 12:02

Yes and don't worry as I think all cars do it.

Well ours does and dh always says its fine.

handlemecarefully · 28/07/2006 12:04

Oh right! - just air conditioning.

I'll go switch on the engine and see if all looks normal. It's a car that should have an 'intelligent' system - so it ought to flash a message to me if there is something wrong

Mine did that last week (although it's a lot older than yours). It was a problem with the temperature control in the engine - fan stopped working, engine overheated, thermostat blew and the water control didn't work as a result meaning water leaked out.

If you run the engine for a while, check the temperature guage in the car. If it doesn't go into the red, then you're probably OK.

I'll look at the temp in particular...off I go (for a few minutes)
