Any mumsnetters in Paris?

Following on from the 'Mumsnetters abroad' thread, is there anyone out there in France (and particularly Paris)?

DH is considering a job offer from a company in Paris and I'm excited and scared. I've only been to Paris once in my life (last weekend) and I have a lot to give up here - a job I like, a good social circle, DS happy in his nursery etc.

BUT this is an opportunity to do something different and I'm excited by the idea of getting some international work experience, becoming fluent(ish) in French, making new friends etc etc.

So - has anyone out there moved to Paris/France? Is getting a job (I'm in marketing) really that difficult? Is it easy to make new friends? (I'm willing to work hard). How expensive is living there compared to the UK?

I'd just like to get people's feelings on the pros and cons.

Thanks!

I'll be living near the Volontaires metro (on the 12th line) in the 15e (south west of paris).
Its near montapasse and about 25 minutes walk to the Eiffial tower.

great appartment with loads of space. I would offer a room but DH & I are keen to ensure there is enough space for visitors. sorry
