Did anyone see John Hegley at Somerset House today?

Cos I did! We were in the 12:30 performance, and I sat there looking around thinking "there must be at least one other mn-er here".

If anyone was there, I was the woman who was forced into translating the French poem (by my s-i-l - cheers!).

He was excellent - our kids were really reluctant to go and see him ("boring"), but really enjoyed it. Sil had never heard of him, but loved it too. We are all going to go out and buy his books now...

I absolutely loved him in the early 90's went to see him loads of times in Glasgow & Edinburgh. One night I was in a theatre in Glasgow to see him when a chap nodded to me in the foyer & I was still trying to place where I knew him from when he walked onto the stage D'oh . I think my friend & I had seen him so often & always sat at the front he saw me as a familiar face.

Saw the God Hegley today. He had great trousers and signed my son's book. Was quite surprised by how few of the hoardes of people there today came in to see him actually.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was a really nice escape from the madness outside, wasn't it?

all you London posse

our English teacher showed us some random video of him performing Hilaire Belloc's Tarantella when I was about 11 and have been a fan since - saw him in London in the 90s several times.
PIL took us to see him in Cardiff last year and DH was sceptical, but nine months on he's still riffing on the Luton Bungalow song...

I'm not actually one of the London posse, just a visitor, lucky enough to have my brother living there, so am able to take the children without too much cost involved.

We are now back in Wales, and the dds were singing "Eddie don't like furniture" to the hoodies at the 14 Locks Centre near Newport. I think they enjoyed it (although some of them were being questioned by the local constabulary at the time )
