We have a first birthday coming up and I'm stumped... everything I buy seems to be a five minute wonder . Help....

Tomy Aquadraw

will last forever, too

My dd2 loves her princess ride on. she got it in april and still plays with it for hours a day. she likes to push it, ride it, play the tunes, hide things in the seat etc. its also popular with dd1 (age 3) and every toddler that comes over. musical books are also quite popular around here.

DS loved anything that he could stack, or anything he could push along at 12 months. He's nearly 20 months now, and still plays with his stackable/pushable toys.

V Tech discovery tree
Trike/ride-ons
Tomy My First Train Set
Electronic nursary rhymes book (vile but really popular)

chunky lego and wooden blocks are popular in this house

nailpolish · 24/07/2006 13:32

stickle bricks are quite good as well

zubb · 24/07/2006 13:35

second a ride-on and building blocks.

KathyMCMLXXII · 24/07/2006 13:35

Ride-on/wooden bricks. (And for extra extra fun, she puts the wooden bricks into the ride-on - wahey!)

DD's favourite toys are free- pegs, bags, shoes, etc... but she got this for her 1st birthday and it's still entertaining her (she's 15months now)

BonyM · 24/07/2006 13:41

We bought dd2 a wheelybug for her 1st birthday which she loves and I can see lasting for a long time. Also, a Teletubby bath island which she adores and plays with every night.

His taggy and his musical drum from the early learning centre. It was his birthday yesterday and he received a really nice wooden shape sorter from ELC, a pull along metal trailer from Letterbox which I am sure will last for ages, a trike and the biggest hit was the ELC garage!

This week my 18m old has been mostly eating... the extension bolts from his old Lindam pressure-fit stairgate.
But if you're looking for something to buy, dinosaurs are always good fun. These ones pretty indestructible.

beansprout · 24/07/2006 16:35

Anything on wheels on the end of a stick (or somesuch) that he can push around for hours.
