...to try using Frontline on their kids hair to get rid of headlice!!

'Cos I am at the end of my fking rope with the little bleeders. It's sooooo easy with the cat - one little squirt on the back of the neck, a few days of mad scratching.....and then peace. Kids....oh no.... wash, condition, comb....day after bleeding day..whilst being screamed at, thumped (DS#2) and being told that you are cruel and horrible (DD and DS#1). WHilst trying to stop them jumping out of the bath with conditioner still all over their hair. I've tried every kind of lotion under the sun...beleive me, chemical and herbal and guess what NONE OF THEM WORK.

There's some newish stuff called (IIRC) Hedrin that allegedly kind of shrink-wraps the little buggers - have you tried that?

Frontline won't work on lice, I'm afraid, from what I know. It's a contraceptive for fleas, and your kids don't have fleas (I don't think so, anyway?).

We had ok experience with serious nit comb and lots of combing. We used a mix of coconut oil with a bit of three different essential oils (a few drops of each).

do GHD or any other high temp straighteners work?

joelallie · 24/07/2006 13:04

NQC - beleive me we've done serious nit combing. But they are never clear for more than a few weeks. I use conditioner with a herbal blend added to it - doesn't seem to work anymore than the other things I've tried but at least it's cheap.

BTW - my DD gets bitten to shreds by the cat's fleas when she has them. She seems to be very tasty to all biting insects - poor little mite. They don't bother anyone else. So maybe I SHOULD treat her with Frontline....

I am also at the end of my tether with nits. We nit comb regularly- everyday when it is bad, have tried evrything except hedrin as we can't find it anywhere. All because there are some irresponsible parents who never treat/comb their kids. We are never rid of them for long and it drives me potty! Dd1 has the most gorgeous thick red hair- it is not fair. Her sister on the other hand never gets them- why?

Just a naturally sweet person Pudmog! I've searched for Hedrin on the net and found quite a few sites that sell it. Whether it's in stock and/or any good I don't know. But I guess it's worth a try.
