Am I the only mum out there who thinks a lot of ballet classes for kids are a rip off. My daughter has been going to a dance class in Barnes for two years but the quality is average I am a bit disappointed because there has been lots of changes and I do not feel it was well run or well structured. Basically I find a lot of dance class is not really teaching much but the costs are going up and up. If you spend the same time in a musical instrument you get to see proper progress but there seems to be a lack of good dance classes and the teacher kind of expect a big drop off as most girls do drop ballet at around 7/8 so the class is run very half heartedly. However my daughter really likes ballet and I would like her to continue but I do not see serious dance schools which are really passionate at teaching kids just very average ones. Does anybody know a good ballet or tap dancing class for 6/7 year olds? Perhaps a school with more structure more vision rather than treat it as an after school club. Afterall it still cost quite a lot of money so i am toying with giving up if i cannot find a better school. Thank you for your advice in advance.

I used to live in Wimbledon, and at the time, a lady called Elizabeth ran ballet classes for children from the gym by Morrisons (Nuffield Health - or has it changed?). My child was too young at the time so I can't vouch for the class nor do I know cost, but she taught adult Pilates so I knew her from that, and she taught beautifully. Not sure if she's still doing classes. You could try reposting on Mumsnet local.

Thank you so much. I will check it out. I have decided unless it is through personal recommendations it is really hard to find good organisations you can trust. Thank you again.

No worries. I think you'll get more responses if you post in MN Local, if you haven't already!
Do update please if Elizabeth is still running classes and if you try them out for your DC!

My DDs go to one run by Cherry Dunn which is fantastic.

It's in the church hall on Spencer Hill just off Ridgway in Wimbledon.
