Baby Louise and that bloody snowsuit!

Just felt I had to write to ask - anyone else fed up with seeing baby Louise (Eastenders for non tv addicts!) in that infernal snowsuit, bundled up in a baby carrier, against Lisa's camel coat. Half the time she's only crossing the square to see Mark on the fruit and veg - the time she must spend getting ready! Last week was the icing on the cake - beautiful dress for Dots wedding, finished off with - you guessed it - snowsuit!
One more irritation - why does everyone assume Natalie is tired due to breastfeeding? Why is it seen as a relief that Barry has found a 'leaflet' which tells them that the baby has received all the 'goodness it needs' by now from the breast, si it's ok to switch? Isn't that baby about 2 mths old? Was that a leaflet sponsored by SMA perchance? Wouldn't it be refreshing if, having switched to formula, Natalie found she was just as tired bottlefeeding - revelation, its not breastfeeding that tires you out, just a baby! - and switched back again? Something tells me it ain't gonna happen!

And why is Why is Lisa always immaculatly done up with baby Louise in tow, sipping coffee at 8am in the flamin caff.
Does she never feel like spending a sloppy day bumming around in her dressing gown like most other new mums.
She forever seems to be tottering around the square , going , no where in particular and bumping into fill all the time!!

And the baby's almost always in a hat - even indoors, in the disco at D & J's wedding - a flippin' fleece hat. Poor thing must be boiling.

I would love to know what was in the leaflet Barry read - I can't think even a formula manufacturer would dare say breastmilk stops giving goodness after 6 weeks. It's a dramatic device to show Barry being a klutz with bottles, I bet....he could end up doing something either comic, or dangerous (all babies on EastEnders have to have at least one life-or-death touch-and-go event in hospital).

You'd think they would give it a lick of paint.

Yes, that baby always has a hat on indoors (and gloves for a while). Noticed the Coronation St baby (the cop and curly baby) is always in a hat indoors. What's the story?

Yes it is all very annoying, however, I think it is because they have two or three babies which they use and so therefore because they all look so different the answer is cover up!.

the hat thing is very weird as when ds was born only 4 years ago it was constantly drummed into us about overheating babies but every baby you see on TV has its blinking hat on indoors all the time!!!!!!!!!!!

The hat/gloves/snowsuit all come in handy as a disguise when they want to use a doll. The other night on 'enders, Lisa was in the square withbaby in snowsuit and sling and you could tell it was a doll! It was rigid!! Especially as a few scenes later they had replace it with a real baby!!

You're right Callie - that house IS grim. Lots of clippity-cloppoting (can you tell i made that up?!) around on lino flooring. But i think Paulines tops the lot - they ran out of space when they came to build the Fowlers, so they ended up with the cupboard space - her front room is akin to a funeral parlour. I know space is at a premium in London, but does everyone there live a)in a cupboard
b)with relatives?
c)above a shop/pub/chippy?

Answers from Londoners much appreciated!

I live in South London and, no, I don't live in a cupboard - just a standard sized 4 bedded semi.

Wickedwaterwitch - I'll put on a fiver on that. It's such an obvious story line - there's Lisa looking fab and breastfeeding like a dream... there's Nat looking minging, hating breastfeeding and on the verge of a nervous breakdown - but you can see they're a tad worried that they might be making non-breastfeeding mums feel guilty so just in case they've over stepped the mark (no pun intended)they're having to let Nat stop with Barry's blessing. Don't you just love those social message story lines? Wonder if they're going to touch on MMR - don't suppose they've got any toddlers to peg it on.

No-one in soaps seems to have a front room. They all seem to live in the back room with a big table in the middle of it. Don't they ever want to lounge around? And why do they NEVER discuss football?

Lisa is always going on about breastfeeding but why is there always a jar of SMA in the background.

Joe1, i reckon thats the next big storyline - Mark, to his horror, finds that Lisa has been lying about the breastfeeding too, when he discovers half a tin of SMA under the washing pile. More angst ridden looks and gruff squeaks from the said Lisa, on goes the camel coat and papoose, the snowsuit is whipped out, and she's away!
Definite PND storyline too wickedwaterwitch. Shame, as i'd say Nat looks just normal. Maybe I'll pen her a little line, and suggest nice camel coat as good investment - does wonders. And whilst I'm away again on the subject - why oh why did the all together Lisa leave the not quite all together Nat with her sprog, and go and sit in the Caff for a coffee?!! Wouldn't you just make the most of it? I'd kill for an hr out - and it would'nt be at a caff!!

Leese, just to put your mind at rest, here are a few facts about us Londoners:

  1. We all live in 2 up 2 down terrace houses with no front garden and a small concrete yard at the back with an outside toilet and sleep 4 to a bed at least;
  2. We only do our washing on Wednesdays, Friday night is bath night and go down the dogs on a Saturday;
  3. Jellied eels are our favourite food;
  4. A picture of the Queen takes pride of place next to the 3 flying ducks on the wall;
  5. We all talk like Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins.
