Hiya limewire is good

satine · 13/07/2006 19:21

I got a free trial period with Napster and downloaded TONS of songs before it ran out! You have to burn them onto a CD right away, though, as once the subscription runs out, you can't play them any more!!

chocolatemummy · 13/07/2006 19:22

is limewire free?
do I have to pay membership

OP posts:
zephyrcat · 13/07/2006 19:23

limewire is totally free - just download it and go

EvesMama · 13/07/2006 19:25

WE use limewire, you can pay to upgrade but I never have. Just make sure your anyi virus is up to date and if there are lots of files that are dubioulsy small or all the same size avoid them.

TwinsetandPearls · 13/07/2006 19:27

Limewire can be dodgy but you should be OK if you follow the precuations, it is a while since I have used it but if you check on the forums thee shoudl be advice on the types of file to avoid.

TwinsetandPearls · 13/07/2006 19:28

satine I may have a peek at napster then. I use downloads to make up cds for dd.

chocolatemummy · 13/07/2006 19:31

so how long should it take to download a song and if it says they can't find a licence for a song but you can download it anyway....should I?

OP posts:
chocolatemummy · 13/07/2006 19:32

yes my hubby uses napster, but didn't know about free trial, he spends a fortune on it

OP posts:
zephyrcat · 13/07/2006 19:33

I always do it anyway - I think most of them would say no licence. I use ntl broadband and the songs download in around 2 minutes or less for me...

TwinsetandPearls · 13/07/2006 19:33

So if I join napster is it just £9.95 a month to get all the music I want?

chocolatemummy · 13/07/2006 19:38

well, not sure what my huby has done, he pays individually and its only pence per song or album but it all adds up

anyone got any suggestions for music? bbq party

dp is he says Napster is worse for viruses than limewire. You have lead me to a telling off tonoght

Is he right?

EvesMama · 14/07/2006 09:53

we never had probs with napster before? and dp has just put fee trial on?

HappyDaddy · 14/07/2006 12:45

The old Napster was bad, the new one is ok cos it's a proper site. It used to be an illegal download site and was virus ridden.

TwoToTango · 14/07/2006 13:31

Hi - I've just downloaded the napster for a free trial period - when I pick an album or track it asks if I want to buy it. if I select buy it while on my trial period i won't be charged will I?

Also I am trying to do a CD for my ds birthday (6) what is the "in" pop sort of stuff at the moment? I only listed to 60s mucic - help please.

TwoToTango · 14/07/2006 13:42

Oops - silly me - hadn't registered a payment method!
Question about "in" music stills stands though

TwoToTango · 14/07/2006 14:52

How do you download straight to CD - when I select a track for download it goes straight to my hard drive?

TwoToTango · 14/07/2006 16:13

Bump can anyone help re downloading straigh to CD - when I tried again to burn the tracks it said I would have to pay to copy to CD as I was a free trial!

satine · 14/07/2006 23:05

Hmm - as far as I can remember, I just downloaded the tracks and then burnt them onto CD using another programme that was already on my computer (Real Player, or something). The only CD I burnt direct from Napster was using tracks I had actually paid for. HTH
