I need a role model - desperate housewife thread worries me

DD about to start school. Both DH and I work full time. I will leave home 7.45 and return at 6.15pm. I will have mothers help take and collect her from school - (hrs are 9 -3pm)and look after her in majority of school hols. DH out of the equation in terms of childcare. Having read the desperate housewives thread I am freaking out with worry. It seems like a lot of people are saying that it is imposible for parents to work full time and supervise reading practice and nurture their kids. Please can I hear positive stories from other mums who are managing well. Thanks

i'm doing well with my boys (age 9 and 10)i work from 7.15am till 6.30pm
tea is at 7ish
then boys play out or go on pc (i chill out)
8.15pm boys have wash/bath and pj's on
then we do reading together.

on fridays i finish at 6pm and we get a takeout for tea then we go to pub for a drink boys take book bags with homework in and do it at the pub with mine and dh's help, all homework done then we can relax at weekend

Thanks dmo. Feeling calmer now, if you can manage with 2 then sure I can manage with 1. She is going to private school as hoping that small class size = adequate teaching without parents having to 'teach' in the evening. Not that I don't want to help my dd but if I hardly see her I want precious time to be fun not homework.

my boys go to a 'normal' school but class size is around 20 per class so i'm lucky
