Twiglett....I'm afraid we had to hacksaw thru the bolts on ours

Can you get one of the nuts off? I've had to do this several times recently (the loo is right next to the bath and the condensation seems to do for all the metalwork...why can't they use proper brass???) and could always get off the one that was easier to turn (the RH one as you look at the loo, because I'm right-handed and it turns inwards) and then did a lot of wiggling to loosen the other one - actually the last time I did it the top part just came away from the back of the loo. But if you wiggled too hard you might break the porcelain

If that doesn't help you could try keeping on with the WD all evening so it has a chance to soak through.

Otherwise it'll be Luckymum's hacksaw.

There should be a better design!

Live with it? Mine snapped in half a few years ago, still haven't got round to chnaging it

Doesn't it pinch your bum when you sit down?

Mostly my daughter's . Actually, she was on it when it snapped. There had been an earthquake the day before in England and I'd told her about it. She heard this loud snap and shouted for me. She was still and startled when I found her - she thought the sound of it snapping was another earthquake

Funnily enough, I just changed the loo seat at work today after 2 years of it being broken. It had metal screws that wouldn't come undone. We broke off the plastic part on top and then the screw just pulled through. The new one had plastic screws.
