Okay.....So Italy have beaten France....

WHY Would my neighbours all be cheering like lunatics. I mean we're all Scottish here, I just don't understand why anyone here would prefer Italy over France.... or vice versa!!!! Am I missing something here?

I infintely prefer italy and Italians over france and the french. And I have nothing to do with either country either.

I suspect your neighbours just picked a side to back and they won.

I could understand if it was a team that had never won the world cup, or had never been expected to have a remote chance. But ITALY???

Hmm, maybe it was that dive the French took to get the penalty that allowed them to score the first goal, and then the headbutt Zidane gave out.
That had me cheering for Italy too!

Lots of Italo-Scots up there, Toothy. Lots of emigration at one point (or possibly several points).

I have to support Italy ... it's in my job contract . Bet this'll affect the corruption investigations now, though. Can't see Juve and a whole load of other Serie A teams being massively punished for corruption now Italy have won the world cup and the players are all national heroes.

DH's parents are Italian,we let our boys stay up to see the final, we were all suporting Italy.
They went absolutely nuts.
