I think wine is frowned on

dd2s nursery staff got a homemade card and a few lines dictated by dd2 and a hama bead heart each

I want to buy dd1s teacher seomething nice, dd1 has had her for 2 years and she has been fab

also want to buy a couple of books for reception class/year one, shall I ask which ones or just buy a couple?

nothing.....

Enid · 06/07/2006 20:17

Ok, am a bit confused about this. DS is just about to finish nursery and has about two teachers and there are also couple of assistants plus the nurserymanager. SO do they all get presents.?

juuule · 06/07/2006 20:19

3 in primary. 1 leaving y6 - have put into collection and will get flowers and card as dd is leaving the school. Other 2 haven't said anything yet, so neither have I but they will probably make their own thank you cards.

LadyTophamHatt · 06/07/2006 20:22

obligatory???

No-way!!

The way I see it is that if every child bought something they'd have 30+ little bits and bobs that I'll almost guarantee will end up in the bin...the majority of them will anyway.

I did buy something when ds1 was in reception, but don't feel the need to for ds2 this year. They will both make card I expect but I won't make them make one...

We've got a ton of lavender growing in out garden so if they want to get their teachers something they can pick some of that and I'll tie it with ribbon.

Certainly won't be spending money on anything though.

What a good idea. We've got lots of lavender in our garden too. Never thought of that. Thanks.

glasses and a hearing aid for my ds teacher, she obviously needs them

Don't remember the title, but there was a thread about this recently. One idea that I particularly liked was to give them a bottle of especially nice olive oil - more unusual than wine, chocs, soaps, etc but still very useful.

have to say I only once gave one of ds;s teachers a present. don;t see why you have to.
on the other hand I will be buying dd's teacher and staff pressies. she has sn so a lot more personal input there

our class rep usually does a collection and we give the teachers and assistants vouchers. works out quite well really. even if evryone only gives 2 quid, its still sixty pounds worth of vouchers.

QueenPeaHead · 06/07/2006 22:41

wine. sorry enid! didn't have time to be more original this year.

WestCountryLass · 06/07/2006 22:51

My DSs teachers have had him for two years and been very good to him and I will miss them so much! They are getting bottles of Gordons and Green and blacks choccies
