I bought Aug edition of P&B magazine, and i am very impressed with the fact they have put a 2 page spread in all about tears, going into detail about 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th degree tears, ways to prevent and giving good general facts and advice on this subject.

I read every book and bought every magazine going when pregnant with my dd (who is now 2.6YO) and never..not once did i read about this side of trauma that can occur during child birth, infact when i suffered a 3rd degree tear when having my dd i didn't have a clue what it was.

I am pg with my 2nd atm (33weeks) and when i first saw a MW this time around we discussed this matter and i asked why it isn't brought up and covered like episiotomy is, and i was told "if women knew that this could happen and it could make you incontinent(sp?) alot more women would ask for a elective c-section" which shocked me! So the subject is all hush hush until it happens to you?? Strange.

As i said before, i bought most of the pregnancy and baby magazines going when pg with my dd and this time around and P&B is the only magazine who has had the guts to cover this topic so i am mightily impressed!! and have emailed them telling them so, apparently they are going to put my letter in the mag next month.

I agree pucca, same thing for the convincing to try vbac they don't mention the danger of some tears and change the subject when you bring them up.
