What is it with you lot and hero worshipping other mumsnetters? I haven't posted before but come on mumsnet to read peoples valuable advice and guidance and what do we get? bloody hero worship that's what, I am sure some of these people are very nice and have been on mumsnet for years and years blah blah but the purpose of this site is surely to enable people to get feedback on parenting issues not revert to playground behaviour of following around the self appointed 'cool kid'. There has been loads about cliques etc and my god it's true and the only ones who get uppety about it are either those in them or those desperate to be. One particular mner is worshipped like a god, when actually she can be downright rude at times, yet any thread she starts no matter how ridiculous gets loads of responses and others who need genuine advice are ignored or worse still accused of being 'trolls'. I am going now to spend some time with my children maybe a few others should try it.

queenbird, I like the fact people get to know one another on this site. I'm not in a clique (to my knowledge, at least...) but I enjoy seeing what MNers I recognise from earlier discussions have to say on a different issue. I don't see anything sinister in it.

WorshipAtTheFeetOfCod · 06/07/2006 10:21

Nooooooooo dont stay QB... I dont like you

ILoveYouMoonDog · 06/07/2006 10:21

it's cliquey because people get along?

You can get great advice on here.
Don't you ever give people the benefit of what you know ?
I like to post on threads, you can have a laugh, I can't spell etc but I don't get the hump if someone says so.
Take things with a pinch of salt.
If you don't like whats been said on a thread either say so or shut up.
Life is to short.
Enjoy playing with your children and have a nice life

sugarfree · 06/07/2006 10:29

No,moondog is cool,I have spoken to her on here,as I have you NAO,that puts you both in a clique by default.

arfishymeau · 06/07/2006 10:32

Hallgerda you are clearly in the PhD clique. Stop pretending otherwise

expatinscotland · 06/07/2006 10:33

best piece of advice: never, ever substitute blue cheese for Canesten creme. it'll turn your bits blue and smelly.

heavenis · 06/07/2006 10:35

lol it's the best advice ever.

bertiewooster · 06/07/2006 10:37

stick around...

join in...

let your corners get rubbed down..

concentrate your efforts on looking for good ...

and you will find that
mumsnet is actually the bollocks!

Medulla · 06/07/2006 10:39

I like that Bertie good advice for QB It's not that bad, it just feels like it at first give it time, you'll meet a few people, have your say on a few topics and before you know it you'll be addicted!!

CheesyFeet · 06/07/2006 10:42

I wouldn't say I am a particularly well known mner but yesterday when I started two threads about problems I've been having I got loads of great advice. So do RL friends of mine who are MNers and I wouldn't say that they were part of these so called cliques either.

So if you aren't a troll, queenbird, I would suggest that you have no idea what you're talking about. Don't read the threads that don't interest or concern you.

Has it occured to you that many people use this site as a lifeline, not just for specfic advice but also to let of steam or have a laugh when RL doesn't always give them the opportunity, especially when you are stuck in the house with poorly kids in the daytime or sleeping kids at night.

I tend to lurk on the so called cliquey threads, because they make me laugh.

Lighten up, ffs.

LiliLaTigresse · 06/07/2006 11:50

expat, my dh would disagree: it's in fact never substitute Deep Heat for Canesten, as he well knows (OUCH as well as PMSL when it happened)

(tis Frenchgirl)

wannaBe1974 · 06/07/2006 13:16

it's a website, it's unique in its own way but it's not the only parenting website out there so if you don't like what you find here you can always go back on to google and find another site that has what mn is lacking.

now, why is it I'm not in a clique and why does no-one worship at my feet!!! :O

bummer · 06/07/2006 13:35

If you treat people you actually see like this no wonder you are taking out your frustration on here. Then again queenbird, are you just trying to wind everyone up?! Nah, you just fell out of the wrong side of bed I reckon. Never mind you can always change your name and start being nice anytime you like.
