Reunions - anyone been to one?

Tell me about it!
Was it good?
How long since you'd seen them?
What was the venue?
Would you recommend it?

It is 20 years next year since we left 6th form, and am inclined, with a bit of encouragement, to organise one. Only problem is I don't live in home town any more. Would it be a complete nightmare to arrange?
Would you travel to one if it was just meeting in an old favorite pub, with no "entertainment" etc.
We had a 6th form of about 50 people, got on very well. Should we remember with rose-tinted specs, or should I go ahead and wow them all as I'm no longer the square I was

Any opinions welcomed!

I went to my 20 year reunion, I know that the 2 guys who organised it had to to put a lot of work into it though so try and enlist some help if you do decide to do it. Ours was between Christmas and New Year because that was when people were most likely to be home visiting family. It was a buffet meal in a hotel, and people had to confirm and pay in advance. I think people are less likely to back out at the last minute if they have prepaid, but obviously meeting in a pub would be much easier from an organisation pov.

There were about 115 in our year and I think about 70 turned up (which I think is pretty impressive after 20 years when you consider we were coming from every corner of the earth).

I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It was amazing how much the men had changed, most of the shy, geeky ones had gained confidence and were hugely attractive, whereas the cool studs had aged and gone past their peak (too much testosterone I guess). The women were almost exactly as they were when they left school, I suppose women are essentially adult at 17/18 whereas men are still maturing.

Thanks very much bran and cat64.
I am still in email contact with a handful of people, a couple of whom still live at "home". May see if I can get them on board.
I really was waiting for someone else to do it, but since thay don't seem to be...
hope I don't regret this!
