Is it 3 or does it go higher?

Think it goes up to 5.

mrsteacher · 01/07/2006 15:11

3 is the highest it can go at ks1

mrsteacher · 01/07/2006 15:11

5 for ks2

JanH · 01/07/2006 15:12

I think it's 3 for KS1 and 5 for KS2 - it used to be possible for them to take higher level tests but they stopped doing that.

There are sub-divisions of c-a in some of the KS1 levels so 3a is the highest (I think!)

mrsteacher · 01/07/2006 15:12

ks1 - 3 is highest - they dot sub-level a 3 just the level 2 (2c, 2b, 2a)

mrsteacher · 01/07/2006 15:12

its popsy btw

JanH · 01/07/2006 15:14

Oh hi, popsy!

Thought I'd prob get it wrong again

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/07/2006 15:16

Thanks for that. I thought that was the case (we have just had ours). Now I know that my Bragging Mummy friend is definitely lying as she told me that her DS got level 5 in his. Unless of course he really is Mummy's Little Genius and was sitting KS2 very early!

pml - sorry but why do they do it???

mrsteacher · 01/07/2006 15:18
Smile

Mrs Bang - no idea. Everyone who has asked me how DD did, I just said "Oh she did fine." I'd have said that whatever her results. First of all, it's none of their business and secondly, um, I don't have a secondly!

level 5 but can go up to but no teachers ever use it a level 6.

mrsteacher · 01/07/2006 20:31

it is level 3 for key stage one

some children at key stahe 2 are assessed at level 6 but only for teacher assessment - the tests don't test ir

nooka · 01/07/2006 21:36

I thought that they had stopped doing formal tests for 7 year olds and gone to teacher's assessments now? My ds is in Year 2, and I'm not aware he is sitting tests, although his school is not the best at communicating!

hewlettsdaughter · 01/07/2006 22:07

Some info here nooka. It says that at the end of KS1 (ie year 2), kids are tested in English and Maths.

hewlettsdaughter · 01/07/2006 22:08

Maybe your school don't make a big deal of it? (prob a good thing IMO).

Yeah ds2 is in yr2: I've not mentioned SATs to him, and he hasn't mentioned it to us; and we've barely picked up anything at all from school about it.

Which is fantastic! A huge improvement on 2 yrs ago (for ds1) when it seemed to dominate the whole time from Jan - May.
