Pressie from in-laws to baby twins? Suggestions??

I have 6 month old twin girls and my hubby's parents who live in France (trying to move back to UK) want to buy the girls a pressie. Not just a toy or clothes, but something they can keep forever and maybe pass on to their children.

My grandparents have me money to buy the same sort of gift so I bought books! Box sets mr men and roald Dahl. So we/they can read them but also treasure, have on the bookshelf when they're adults etc.

They are coming over in 3 weeks and have been asking me to think of something for ages. Please can you help me think of something? They haven't got lots of money, and obviously it would be rude for me to suggest something too expensive.

Thanks in advance Grin

A cutlery set each, a little necklace each?

We had a lovely wooden Noah's ark (two by two) for our twins, although its a toy it is kept on a shelf up high. Maybe two of them would be overkill though...?

How about a nice print eg A A Milne or something.

The book company currently have beautiful boxed Peter rabbit book set 130 down to 30 pounds I think.

Zoomania · 06/10/2013 20:46

Or a nice moneybox?

JassyRadlett · 06/10/2013 20:48

I like the idea of a nice pair of prints for their wall.

A colleague bought them piggy banks. I have bought them the peter rabbit books Smile (spoilt little girls) I love the idea of prints. Do you mean a little poem or quote or something?

I thought about a nice clock as they haven't got one but they'd need two I guess. It's so hard!

A Pandora style charm bracelet? They could add charms for big events as they grow up.

MrsGSR · 06/10/2013 21:03

Or jewellery boxes?

FriskyHenderson · 06/10/2013 21:05

Memory/keepsake boxes?

Could be a poem that means something to you or a Winnie the Pooh classic drawing. I have a beautiful sampler with clowns on it that my great aunt made hanging in my nursery. I love it! Try notonthehighstreet - could be some ideas there.

Not on the high street.com had some lovely woodcut prints with name, DOb and Noah ark scene etc, bought one for a friends christening. Was really pleased with it.

Oh my! I've just spent ages on 'not on the high street' and look what I found!! I am getting this for my girls for Xmas, how amazing is this?
