Be worth phoning the Turkish Embassy. Does the child has dual nationality? If she does, then I'd be worried. You need to find out what the rules are in Turkey re custody after divorce - are children the 'property' of the father?

There's an organisation - something like Parents Of Children Abroad - which offers advice mainly to parents whose child have already been taken by a separated spouse who lives in another country. Don't know what it is called, but you could Google it, as they may well have advice to offer. I heard heartbreaking interviews on a radio programme with mums whose kiddies were abducted by an ex and then who lost all rights to see them, let alone get them back. There is an international convention to ensure that children are returned to their home country, but it doesn't always get enforced and not every country is a signatory. Well worth checking out before she makes any decisions.

sorry, but i wouldn't risk it.

i'd pay for my dad to come visit us in england or meet him halfway somewhere.

If he does take the child, the law will not help her get him back, althoughas the child is a british national, our govt might help
There is no way I'd take my child if it was me

more than likely she'll end up in some magazine or on RealStory, another case of having lost her daughter to the ex.

sorry, but she's potty to even consider it.

"im dorothy, im 70 and im marrying my 19 yr old lover Amir"

expatinscotland · 28/06/2006 15:01

yes, and then dorothy discusses how she's going to have baby no. 8 w/amir to cement their 'bond'.
