Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Onwards and upwards. Wink

I love you Zombie. You are always calm and wise. You rock.

IamtheZombie · 01/10/2013 23:54

Zombie hopes that no one will mind but she's probably going to keep this thread active for the next few weeks to document her progress in packing up DZOH's belongings, replacing items that will be going with him and generally starting out on her new path in life. She thinks she will find it cathartic.

She's started tonight by ordering a new upright vacuum cleaner which she will collect in a couple of days. She's on the look out for a coffee table and a 2 & 3 seater sofa set.

IamtheZombie · 02/10/2013 00:23

It's mainly cat hair, Ellen. Zombie has 3 shedding monster Zombie cats.

I'd love a cat Zombie. The dog would not like it though.

IamtheZombie · 02/10/2013 20:51

Zombie has always been a cat Zombie. Dogs are OK, but cats are the rulers of the universe. Grin

YY about cats being the rulers of the universe, our vacuum cleaner does sterling work just picking up after one long haired cat, but if I gathered the hair properly, I'm sure I could knit a new cat quite easily. Grin

FunnysInLaJardin · 02/10/2013 22:18

I love cats too Zombie and have 2. Max and Mini. Max once left home for 2 years and then rocked up again asking for Whiskers. They are brother and sister farm cats and I mostly on the whole love them.

Mintyy · 02/10/2013 22:22

Loving a thought of Zombie, with all those flaking bits of bandage and skin, needing a new vacuum cleaner. I am sure even the zombiest of Zombies like to keep a tidy house.

WandaDoff · 02/10/2013 22:27

Glad to see you Zombie Thanks

Catmint · 02/10/2013 22:28

Zombie totally rocks. Well done Zombie.

IamtheZombie · 02/10/2013 23:01

The Zombie cats are:

ZombieCatG aka Gemma, ZombieCatT aka Tinkerbelle and ZombieCatM aka Maisie.

Gemma and Tinkerbelle are sisters and Zombie acquired them when they were 10 months old. Tinks was immediately at home but Gemma was beyond shy. For 6 or 7 weeks she hid under / behind furniture and wouldn't let Zombie touch her. One morning Zombie came downstairs very early and was watching the sunrise when she felt a cat rubbing up against her ankles. She assumed it was Tinks, but when she looked down after a couple of minutes realised it was Gemma. For several months more Gemma was only comfortable around Zombie but now she loves everyone.

Maisie was DZOH's family cat. When he moved to DDS and his daughters went their separate ways Maisie went with his younger daughter. Last year she moved into a flat where she couldn't keep a pet so Maisie came to live in DDS.

Zombie has had a lot of curveballs thrown at her in life. So pleased she is thinking positively and doing well. Smile Thanks

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 03/10/2013 09:39

Morning Zombie, I miss my cats Sad, we had to re-home them when we moved into town, they hated it and one kept escaping from our tiny yard - by scaling a 10ft high fence! He used to go in next door's catflap, scoff all their food and duff them up!
They both went to people who keep in touch, the escaper is now best friends with two ducks Grin

Hope you enjoy buying all your new stuff.

Fragglewump · 03/10/2013 09:45

Zombie rocks...zombies stbxoh sounds like a total wanktank. Good riddance to bad rubbish as my grandma always said!
