Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Onwards and upwards. Wink

Grin Tardis
sanssoleil · 21/11/2013 23:51

I will teach knitting

Thumbwitch · 22/11/2013 00:24

ACKsherly, I get a cold at least 4 times a year at season change. BUT my nose almost never gets bunged up now, not since someone clever told me that if you force yourself to breathe through your nose, your nose has to comply, even if in just one nostril. And since we alternate nostrils when we breathe every few minutes, then each nostril will clear in turn.
I didn't believe this would work but it DOES - if you give in and mouth-breathe, your nose instantly blocks up - but if you force yourself to breathe through your nose, you can. Amazing, huh?!

I shall still have the rum remedy on standby though, just in case Wink

Is this subversive enough on the knitting front? Grin

sanssoleil · 22/11/2013 00:29

Paha I am way more subversive! need to upload some examples of my 'deviency' but you get the driftknit!

Thumbwitch · 22/11/2013 00:52

Ooooo! just seen the Tardis

sanssoleil · 22/11/2013 01:01

So was who was your fav doctorthumbwitch? and obvs anyone else awake/different timezoned?

Thumbwitch · 22/11/2013 05:07

Sorry sans - had to go and do stuff! my favourite doctor was Tom Baker. and then David Tennant, although I didn't watch all of his because I'd kind of got out of the Dr Who habit by then Shock - I know, I know!

Love the Tardis emoticon though. It's a shame that soon no one will understand the relevance of the Tardis, as there won't be any of those police boxes left in London, if they haven't all gone already. :(

FeedMeFeederer · 22/11/2013 07:15

I taught FidGirl to knit and she's planning on knitting scarves in the Hogwarts house colours and is a foot-long into the first one. We also had a lovely time last weekend knitting tiny bobble-hats for her favourite teddies. Was fun because they don't take long. I suspect her enthusiasm may not last for 4 scarves!

We're on a countdown to Tardis day tomorrow. Tennant for me (I wish)

Flowers Zombie I order champagne all round Grin

Thumbwitch · 22/11/2013 11:50

Have you been playing the Google Doctor game? I've played it a few times now BlushTardis

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/11/2013 12:15

Congratulations on your anniversary Zombie and hope you're feeling better Flowers
Don't get all the Dr. Who stuff never did. I wondered if Tardis meant fuck off down a black hole Grin
One the Brighton MNers is working on crocheted handcuffs! They'd go down a storm in my part of town.

sanssoleil · 22/11/2013 12:44

I love the quirkey things that people craft! I hope that Hogwarts scarf grows too

Hope all our toasts have driven theZombie lurgy away

I was only interested in Tom Baker and haven't watched the revived programme although I rated Christopher Ecclestone as an actor and liked Peter Capaldi in the Thick of It

IamtheTimeZombie · 22/11/2013 19:38

Gosh. Zombie is delighted to see you've all been playing nicely amongst yourselves. Grin

Thanks for that tip, Thumbwitch. Zombie's nose isn't really stuffed up. It's mostly sinus yuck sliding down the back of her throat into her lungs. Cue frequent noseblowing and coughing. The sore throat has buggered off at least. She's still having a lemsip or two during the day and a couple of hot toddies at night. Just as a precaution you understand. Wink

Zombie is also counting down to tomorrow night, Feed. She can hardly contain herself.

What do you mean you "don't get all the Dr. Who stuff", Bewitched?? SIOB

The lurgy is rapidly retreating, soleil.

Zombie met a friend for breakfast this morning and then saw her lovely CMHT lady this afternoon. To top a good day off, she's just looked at what music is on BBC4 tonight. It's JOHN DENVER!!!! (Zombie's dirty little secret.) That may well bring the champagne out tonight.

I really mean I just don't get it, I understand what it's about but it just doesn't flick my switch. It even didn't when it started when I was 11, and the only TV I saw was at grandparents as we didn't have TV at home till Moon Landing.
I've read some stuff how could I not on MN and completely accept the idea that it's good entertainment for children. My kids never got into it either and if they had I wouldn't have minded at all.

Maybe a shame that it coincides with the JFK assassination anniversary, which I remember vividly and was riveted by all the speculation.

Oh dear.

John Denver.

I think maybe you should have kept that a real secret. Grin

Very glad to hear that Zombie had a good day and is feeling better.

I think there is something to be said for having a hot toddy every night forever, just in case.

As respect to Zombie we need to confess to our guilty pleasures!Grin
Just to alienate everyone I watched the BBC4 programme on Bach before.
I was forced to play Annies Song too much as a teen to like JD!

IamtheTimeZombie · 22/11/2013 23:35

Zombie moved to the UK in 1984. She didn't enjoy Dr. Who then. None of the last 3 of the Doctors of the original series did anything for her and the whole thing felt really dated. But when it was ressurected in 2005 her godson told her she must watch so she started about half way through the Christopher Ecclestone series and immediately fell in love with it. As soon as the first box set came out she bought it and caught up on what she'd missed. She's seen every episode since.

Zombie also vividly remembers JFK. She was 11. About 2.45 pm the Principal came on the tannoy and announced what had happened. We were old enough to sort of understand the enormity and certainly old enough to be shocked. She's not entirely certain how she feels about the various theories but isn't satisfied that Oswald was a lone nut. She listened to the Radio 2 minute by minute re-telling of the events this evening.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Bach, soleil!

sanssoleil · 22/11/2013 23:50

I love a bit of Bach ZombieMy parents were playing poker when JFK died-I was in bed.How things change.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/11/2013 23:58

There's something quite special about being turned on to something by a child. An element of seeing it through their eyes as well as one's own.

I can imagine that happening with Dr. Who, but for me it was my son and The Simpsons. We still watch it together and he now appreciates it on all levels.

IamtheTimeZombie · 23/11/2013 00:02

How things change indeed, soleil.

Now see, Zombie doesn't get The Simpsons. Or Family Guy.

Zombie's mother and step-father (total opposite of dear to preface both of those) were more than obsessed. They even used a ouija board and passed along the information it gave them (WTF???) to the authorities.

sanssoleil · 23/11/2013 00:12

HMMm Zombie hyper-religiosity here.I am paranoid by proxy!

Bewitched I watched the Simpsons with the little DDs and it precipitated many interesting conversations!

IamtheTimeZombie · 23/11/2013 00:20

Should Zombie go to bed or have another drink?

sanssoleil · 23/11/2013 00:25

Another drinkWine retrospectively for Ste Cecelias Day -Patron Saint of Music[hic]

IamtheTimeZombie · 23/11/2013 00:27
