Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Onwards and upwards. Wink

I know the sofas I want Zombie. I'm looking for the cheapest price now.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 20/10/2013 16:43

Oh, I had imagined ZN to be a teenager! Sounds like a lovely relationship you have with her, and good for her soldiering on through cystitis.

Must be very soothing to have your own space back unpolluted by his stuff.

I'm hiding on here away from the rugby. I get into trouble because the players I like are not necessarily the most skilled but are the most hunky Grin

IamtheZombie · 20/10/2013 22:16

Evening. Grin

Zombie knows the type of sofas she wants, Melody, it's just a matter of finding them at a reasonable price.

You do know that Zombie is 61, don't you, Bewitched? ZN is the daughter of her late husband's sister who in turn is almost 9 months older that Zombie. The reltionship is indeed lovely and very special.

The main thing Zombie is noticing right now is that the house definitely looks better with less clutter!! When Zombie & ZOH got together and he moved to be with her, he brought a lot of furniture, pictures, everything really. Then a lot of stuff came here from his mum's house after she died. There's probably 5% of all of that still here. But it's all stuff Zombie can pack up and then she and ZOH will meet up for lunch halfway between where they each live so she can return those to him.

Zombie must stress that things between them is perfectly amicable now. What he did was appalling but she bears him no ill will. They are agreed that they both hope they will always be able to be friends.

Other than being extremely tired, she is fine. She's planning a couple of duvet days to recharge her batteries and then set about sorting out the house.

So, that's today's report from ChezZombie! Grin

Lovely update Zombie :o
Less clutter is a very good thing. ZombieNiece sounds lovely Flowers

Jacksmania · 20/10/2013 22:52

I do know other words besides "lovely" HmmBlush

IamtheZombie · 20/10/2013 23:27

((((( Jacks ))))) Zombie has missed chatting with you. Zombie also uses lovely at lot as well as some other words. She tries to remember to re-read everything closely before posting so that she doesn't sound like a broken record.

Um...

I knew some of your story Zombie but have never spoken to you.

I think you're fucking awesome. There. Have these ----> Thanks from me.

IamtheZombie · 20/10/2013 23:34

Aw, thanks, Hester. Zombie is very friendly so please feel free to chat with her anytime.

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 20/10/2013 23:45

Zombie is in fact, fucking awesome :o

  • and I've missed chatting with you too, Zombie [hearts].
It's been a funny old year - nothing like yours, though. I haven't been on MN much. I've missed a lot, apparently!
BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 21/10/2013 00:10

You must be a very civilised Zombie to be able to be so forgiving and generous to ZOH. Amicable is indeed very lovely, and rather rare.

Yes I do remember Zombie's age, partly because it's the same as mine Smile
Sorry I misunderstood ZN's age, I have teenage nephews and even younger nieces.

Not surprised Zombie is feeling drained. Here's some supplies for the duvet days.

CakeWineCakeBrewCakeWineCakeBrewCakeWineCake

and some BearBearBears to snuggle.

IamtheZombie · 21/10/2013 01:12

Well, Jacks, we'll have to do something about the chatting. Give her a couple of days to recharge her batteries and she'll PM you. xx

Bewitched, Zombie has been through the drama and trauma. That's all behind her. Amicable is the only way forward. Anything else leads to madness.

Zombie had no idea we are the same age. Having said that, perhaps your NN does put you in her age range.

Thanks for the supplies and even more for the Bear. Zombie needs a good night's sleep tonight, but she suspects she may allow the ZombieCats to come up to bed with her tomorrow night.

Jacksmania · 21/10/2013 01:15

Off to bed Flowers.

IamtheZombie · 21/10/2013 22:49

Thanks, Jacks. It worked!

Duvet day went very well. Slept until 10.30. Slobbed around until 4.30. Napped between 4.30 and 6.30. Dinner and TV this evening.

Tomorrow morning she needs to go out for a loaf of bread and a paper. Then she will come home and slob again.

On Wednesday she will get her arse in gear and start moving forward.

Thank you ALL for your love and support. Zombie can't even begin to tell you how much it means to her and has helped her to stay strong.

garlicvampire · 21/10/2013 23:06

Duvets, naps & slobbing very good! And you ate dinner, had some entertainment - give Nurse Zombie a hi-five :) x

You're brilliant Zombie. Glad you're looking after yourself. Hope you give yourself a well deserved treat every day! If you have a local college near you, they have cheap massages etc.

Jacksmania · 22/10/2013 02:27

What a perfect day. I'm so glad for you :)
((((((HUGS))))))

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/10/2013 09:14

That sounds fabulous Zombie, well done, exactly what was needed.

Flowers
IamtheZombie · 22/10/2013 20:11

Evening. Smile

Thanks, london. Zombie knows a very good massage therapist and is planning to see her next week.

((((( Jacks )))))

It was fab, Bewitched.

Today wasn't quite as slothful as yesterday. Zombie had to pop into town for a loaf of bread and the papers. She did treat herself to a greasy spoon breakfast. But otherwise it was fairly slobby. She's had her dinner and just needs to feed the cats and replenish her wine glass before relaxing for the rest of the evening.

OP posts:
londone17 · 22/10/2013 22:21

Pleasure love. Hope you enjoy it and your wine! On Amazon there's a pack of cards, Lynn Gordon 52 ways to pamper yourself. Glad you're making your space your own again.

IamtheZombie · 22/10/2013 23:50

Thanks for that, london. Zombie has ordered the cards. Grin

Fiderer · 23/10/2013 09:58

Good news on the slobbing & pampering front Grin

You really are a marvel, lovely Zombie Flowers

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 25/10/2013 08:43

How are you Zombie? Feeling refreshed I hope.

I think a greasy spoon breakfast fits with the slobbing perfectly, as long as you didn't make it yourself Grin

Any luck on the sofa front?

IamtheZombie · 25/10/2013 18:40

Evening.

Thanks, Fid. Thanks

Zombie's been a bit flat this week tbh, Bewitched. Duvet day turned into duvet most of the week so nothing done about sofas yet. Zombie's in no hurry though.

She did get a few things accomplished today. She had an appointment with the GP at 09:30 this morning to get the results of her hip x-ray. The hip looks fine so the GP gave her the necessary information to contact the Physiotherapy people. They took her basic details today and one of the physiotherapists is going to ring her next Friday morning to take a detailed history and plan what happens next.

That was followed by another greasy spoon breakfast and then a trip to Tesco to get food for the weekend.

When she got home she sorted out her car insurance, booked her car in for its MOT and then had a long chat with her best friend in Ireland. The jacket potato is in the Aga, she's cut the rosemary for the chicken breast and will prep the broccoli when the chicken goes in the oven. Dinner and wine at 20:00.

Fiderer · 25/10/2013 19:06

20:06 of the clock here, young Zombie, and I smell no chicken or rosemary. I do have wine

Putting to one side my gripes about the lack of dinner, what's with your hip? Been jiving again?
