I will try to keep this brief..Ds was at a friends and his eye swelled up at an alarming rate and then the other started[prob allergic reaction to cat scratch]anyway we got him to docs who gave us a script for antihistamine and we took it to our usual chemist who i had phoned on route.
Got there and she said loudly 'I hear you have been a very naughty boy and the badness is coming out of your eyes!'.Dp and i totally shocked not sure if ds heard as he was in some discomfort but he is quite a sensitive kid.Weird or what?

WTF??! What a stupid thing to say! Very weird.

Mascaraohara · 23/06/2006 21:45

Very strange thing to say! I would have said loudly "what a ridiculous thing to say!"

hunkermunker · 23/06/2006 21:45

WTF? How bloody odd (and rude and just plain weird)!

hunkermunker · 23/06/2006 21:45

What did you say?

I'd have been tempted to say "There appears to be nonsense coming out of your mouth - you want to watch that"

Beauregard · 23/06/2006 21:46

Was she a f***n witch?

ScummyMummy · 23/06/2006 21:46

What a stupid thing to say. She probably thought she was being funny or something but I would have been most displeased.

doobydoo · 23/06/2006 21:49

Well Hunker..i caught dp's eye and he thrust the prescription at her.but we didn't say anything'
i THINK WE WERE SHOCKED AND WANTED TO GET THE MEDICINE INTO DS.
i WONDER THO..SHE IS QUITE OLD AND WE LIVE IN A RURAL PART OF iRELAND AND[HOPE I DON'T OFFEND ANYONE}..IF IT'S ASORT OF OLD cATHOLIC CHURCH THING.i KNOW MY gRANNY TOLD ME SOME STORIES OF THE TYPE OF THINGS THAT TEACHERS WOULD SAY AT SCHOOL.

TwoIfBySea · 23/06/2006 21:49

I would have asked her if she had been sampling her products.

That is a completely bizarre thing to say!

doobydoo · 23/06/2006 21:51

The more dp and i think about it the weirder we feel.Dp is not sure he can go back there!

OP posts:
longwaytogo · 23/06/2006 22:11

omw i think i would go back there and say how your ds has been up all night crying because he thinks he's a bad boy and that's why his eye is bad. Don't think I would stop until I got an apology - that's not right that and neither is she.

saadia · 23/06/2006 22:36

She sounds loopy, I would try to forget about it and never go back there again.

chipmonkey · 23/06/2006 23:31

doobydoo, I have lived in Ireland all my life and have never heard such a thing said by anyone! She sounds cracked!

doobydoo · 24/06/2006 11:32

I am relieved to hear it Chipmonkey.I thought it might be a church thing!I Dp and i were trying to rationalise it
It's a shame cos she has been nice to us.ds has always been wary round her tho'!

oooh, straaange....make a voodoo doll and leave it on her doorstep, or in cornwall (a bit south of me) I heard they leave a jelly on your doorstep or something...SCAREY.

zippitippitoes · 24/06/2006 15:35

my grandma always used to refer to teenage spots as your badness coming out!

however, this assistant does sound weirdly ottt

Rhubarb · 24/06/2006 15:57

It's not a church thing, I'm RC and this is most certainly NOT part of our religion! This is just some disturbed old bat who should be sacked. She might use religion as an excuse, or her age, or the rural location, but really it's just her and her silly prejudices coming out.

doobydoo · 24/06/2006 18:09

I like the idea of leaving a jellyspooooky!
I too am a[lapsed RC]but remembered my Granny's tales of being at school in Ireland and some of the things that were said to the kids.I was just trying to,sort of,rationalise it as it was sooo weird.I still feel shocked!
Maybe a red jelly
