He is NHS ..

DH has acute toothache, needs a root canal .. can't do it on NHS .. it'll be £200

I phoned up to ask about that (because I know you can have root canals on the NHS) and he starts waffling on about the budget and he can't do it this month .. it'll probably be 3 months (DH in abject pain) .. only thing he can do is pull the tooth on the NHS

I hate this bloke - he's blaming the new contract ... says can only complain to govt.

Is he right?

He's the bloke who tried to get money out of you before, right?

Find your nearest Dental Hospital and go there, they usually have an emergency only clinic. Dh isn't registered with a dentist, and broke a tooth last year and had to go up to Kings College to get it fixed. They were really good, and did a follow up appointment to check everything was fine.

dunno if he's right but if your dh is in pain he probably needs antibiotics before you consider any work. I've had root fillings and there's usually no urgency as such - the urgency is for the antibis beforehand.

Twiglett · 22/06/2006 16:35

yes he's been given antibiotics

just called another practice and they said it would probably be the same thing

I did get annoyed with bloke on the phone .. I just don't trust him .. he's all weaselly

have found another practice down the road that'll take us on NHS .. so will have to switch

but after the root canal

Kings is our local too .. do you think he should nip down there instead and see if they'll do it?

and the antibiotics didn't take the pain away or it came back?

SSSandy · 22/06/2006 16:38

Yes, they should. It's a bit of long process though. Dh had to turn up at 9am, and it was first come first served, so you could turn up, wait hours and be told to come back another day because they've run out of time.

Looking at the website they might just deal with the pain, but if they can sort it out so he's pain free it'll be ok to wait. I presume if the only way to get pain free is to sort it out, they'll do that - Dh was definitely given proper treatment.

I'm still sure DH went first thing in the morning, maybe he went at the weekend, but then again he went a few years ago.
