I'm a SAHM with three kids and also got a husband too.

Im turning 40 next year and the first thing i think of is......my life is crap and i'm fed up of chasing up after my friends to hang out with/without kids but that's what ya gotta do to keep yaself in the adult world!! iykwim? sometimes i feel ok for a couple of weeks and then i feel crashed cos thinking of next year as i feel i havent done an awful lot since i had my kids, ages are 8 nearly 9, 4 nearly 5 and 14 months....

my dh is self employed so money is always very tight and for me to go back to work full time, i would take home literally nothing!

What did you do to change your life around as wish i had money to join up things. I'm atm paying my local gym monthly and im also looking out to make new friends. I've just lost nearly 3 st at slimming world and i feel fantastic, but no longer a member now but will carry on at home as i find this is v easy.

Please don't be afraid asking me questions Smile as i'm willing to give things a go or not able to.

You sound like you are feeling low. so one thing I'd suggest is to go to the doctor and get checked out to see if there is an underlying physical reason for this.

If you can't earn money by going out to work, you can work on saving on family outgoings. Shop around for cheap deals on regular/big one-off outgoings.

Look out for fun free activities which take you out with your preschoolers. There are lots of ways to meet up with other mums and children. Look into ways to volunteer for an hour or two a week in a field related to a job you would like to be doing, or would like to get into when you have more time. Voluntary jobs can turn into part time paid work (or paid work is easier to find if you have a recent reference from someone).

yego - ive always wanted to volunteer as i like to help out. Wouldnt it affect my family working tax, etc?

i've also found a short course to learn to make cupcakes in the evening, so i'll go in on monday. i did try and find a course of what i wanted to do as my career change to do beauty therapy but i cannot find anywhere that does part time/evening classes, so they said the government had scrapped the evening classes to save money and also i wait for my youngest to start full time in school to start my new career change.....but that's years away!! Sad

yes, i've got a surestart childrens centre around the corner from me that is ok but not fussy on it as i do feel left out in it alot.

i always shop around for good deals etc as i do have to count our pennies.

thank you for helping me out Smile

If you didn't have to worry about your family, what would you want to be doing?

biglips · 08/09/2013 21:12

Wants to be having a social life with my friends....or maybe that's what i need? As its hard when you're a sahm and all my friends works. my mind is rattling with things to think of! Lol
